Braun Premium 8x42 WP

• 8x42 configuration: The combination of 8x magnification and a 42.00 mm objective gives this binocular a steady, versatile view that works well for bird watching, wildlife observation and general outdoor use.
• Roof prism design: The Schmidt/Pechan roof prism layout keeps the binocular slim and easy to carry, while the single-hinge body handles more neatly than bulkier traditional designs.
• Comfortable eye relief: With 18.00 mm of eye relief and a -4 / +4 Dpt diopter range, the binocular is easier to adapt to different eyesight and remains comfortable during longer viewing sessions.
• Fully multicoated optics: The Fully Multicoated lens system helps maintain contrast and reduces distracting reflections, which is especially useful when scanning detail in mixed light.
• Weather-ready construction: Waterproof, fogproof and nitrogen filled, the Braun Premium 8x42 WP is built for changing temperatures and damp conditions where internal fogging can interrupt observation.

About the Braun Premium Series

The Braun Premium series sits in BRAUN’s high-grade full-sized binocular range and is aimed at users who want a more serious field optic for leisure, travel and outdoor observation. Within the lineup, the series covers several familiar formats, including 8x42 and 10x42 roof-prism models, larger Porro-prism versions and selected 56 mm WP-ED variants, giving the family a broad spread from general-purpose use to lower-light observation.

A defining characteristic of the range is its focus on practical all-round use. BRAUN presents the Premium series for bird and wildlife observation, hunting, events, travel and even astronomy, so the design priorities are broad usability, dependable handling and weather resistance rather than niche specialization. Across the listed models, the series is described with ULTRALIT glass lenses, multilayer lens coatings, rubber armor and nitrogen filling, with waterproof construction as a recurring feature. In practice, that gives the Premium line the profile of a traditional full-size outdoor binocular family: bright enough for varied daylight conditions, robust enough for regular field carry, and straightforward to use for people who need a dependable observation tool rather than an overly complex optic.

About the Braun Premium 8x42 WP

The Braun Premium 8x42 WP is the most balanced configuration in the Premium family for users who want one binocular to cover many roles. Its 8.00 x magnification is strong enough to bring distant detail closer without making the image overly sensitive to hand movement, while the 42.00 mm objective provides a useful blend of brightness and manageable size. That makes this model well suited to walking observation, birding, travel and general hunting optics use where conditions and viewing distances can change quickly.

The optical layout uses a Roof - Schmidt/Pechan prism system in a compact single-hinge body, helping the binocular stay relatively easy to pack and comfortable to hold for extended glassing. A 129.00 m/1000m field of view gives a broad enough image to follow moving subjects and scan open ground efficiently, while the 5.25 mm exit pupil supports a relaxed view in subdued light. The 18.00 mm eye relief is also a practical advantage for eyeglass wearers, and the central focusing system keeps adjustments quick and intuitive when shifting between near and distant subjects.

For field durability, the housing is nitrogen filled, waterproof and fogproof, so the binocular is better prepared for rain, cold mornings and abrupt temperature changes. The Fully Multicoated lenses help preserve contrast and reduce glare, and the right-eyepiece diopter adjustment allows the view to be tuned to the user’s eyesight. At 780.00 g, it has the solid feel of a full-size outdoor binocular without moving into the bulk of larger 50 mm or 56 mm models.

About Braun

Braun traces its origins to 1915, when Karl Braun founded Karl Braun KG in Germany. The company initially made optical instruments, metal goods and binoculars, showing that optics have been part of its history from the beginning. In 1948, the business became Carl Braun Camera-Werk Nürnberg, and in 2004 it adopted the name BRAUN Photo Technik GmbH.

Today, BRAUN Photo Technik is headquartered in Eutingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its product range includes binoculars and Ultralit spotting scopes, and binoculars returned to the company’s lineup in 2007. In this category, BRAUN is known for practical observation optics that combine straightforward handling with weather-ready construction. The company’s use of ULTRALIT glass lenses in relevant models reflects its continued focus on accessible field optics for outdoor observation and travel use.
