Zeiss LRP S5 3-18x50

• Wide 3.6-18x magnification range: covers everything from closer target transitions to deliberate long-range shots, so one riflescope can serve precision competition, varmint work and long-range hunting.
• First focal plane illuminated reticle: the reticle scales with magnification, keeping holdovers and corrections consistent throughout the zoom range and making fast adjustments more intuitive under field pressure.
• 40.7 mrad elevation travel: the large adjustment range gives shooters more usable dial-up for distant targets without relying as heavily on holdover, which is especially valuable on modern long-range rifle setups.
• 34 mm main tube with locking tactical turrets: combines generous internal adjustment with a robust mechanical layout, while the locking windage system helps prevent accidental movement during transport or positional shooting.
• ZEISS optical system with 90% light transmission: SCHOTT glass, fluoride elements and ZEISS coatings support a bright, high-contrast image that helps with target definition in mixed light and demanding terrain.

About the Zeiss LRP S5 Series

The ZEISS LRP S5 series was introduced on September 7, 2022 as part of the company’s first focal plane riflescope family, built for shooters who need a competition-capable optic that also makes sense for demanding hunting use. The series sits in ZEISS’s precision-shooting range and is aimed at long-range precision shooting, including PRS and NRL competition, while still offering the optical qualities and field practicality expected from premium hunting optics.

Across the range, LRP S5 models share SCHOTT glass, fluoride lens elements, ZEISS T* coatings and 90% light transmission, giving the series a clear emphasis on image quality as well as dialing performance. Every model uses a first focal plane optical system and a 34 mm main tube, with daylight-visible illuminated reticles offered in both milliradian and minute-of-angle versions. ZEISS also equips the series with diffractive reticle illumination technology and stepless intensity control for precise brightness adjustment, while the Ballistic Stop elevation turret and external locking windage turret reflect a design focused on repeatable corrections and practical use on serious rifle platforms.

About the Zeiss LRP S5 3-18x50

The Zeiss LRP S5 3-18x50 is the more compact model in the series, built for shooters who want the dialing capacity and reticle functionality of a tactical riflescope without moving to a larger 5-25x class optic. Its 3.6-18x magnification range gives it broad usefulness: low enough for faster target acquisition and wider stage views, yet with enough top-end magnification for precise shot placement at distance. ZEISS positions this model for precision rifle competition, but its broad field of view also makes it well suited to varmint and predator hunting and long-range hunting where target observation and quick transitions both matter.

The optical system combines 50 mm objective performance, 90% light transmission and a field of view of 10.0 - 2.0 m/100m, helping the scope stay usable across changing light and varied shooting positions. The first focal plane layout keeps reticle subtensions valid throughout the zoom range, which is important for holdovers, ranging references and fast corrections when there is no time to return to a specific magnification. Red illumination and auto shut-off add practical low-light usability without unnecessary battery drain.

Mechanically, this model is built around a 34 mm tube with 40.7 mrad of elevation travel, a single-turn Ballistic Stop elevation turret and a locking windage turret. In practice, that means ample adjustment for extended distances, a clear return to zero and less risk of accidental windage movement when the rifle is carried, barricaded or moved between stages. Side parallax adjustment from 25 m to infinity, a fixed 90 mm eye relief and a robust, nitrogen-filled waterproof, fogproof and shockproof housing complete a riflescope designed for hard field use.

About Zeiss

Carl Zeiss opened an optical and precision-mechanics workshop in Jena in 1846, laying the foundation for a company that became closely associated with precision optics. ZEISS is a German company headquartered in Oberkochen, Germany, and its sport-optics portfolio includes binoculars, riflescopes and spotting scopes for hunting and outdoor use. In this category, the brand is known for applying its broader optical expertise to practical field equipment rather than treating sport optics as a separate sideline.

Relevant technologies in the range include ZEISS T* lens coatings for improved light transmission and contrast, and LotuTec protective coatings used on hunting optics. ZEISS has also developed integrated optical-electronic products such as the Victory RF binoculars, which combine binocular optics with a laser rangefinder and ballistic connectivity through the ZEISS Hunting app. That mix of optical design, coatings and field-oriented electronics helps explain the company’s strong reputation in premium hunting and shooting optics.
