Discovery Optics VT-Z 4-16x40SF FFP Product description

4-16x magnification range: covers close-to-mid-range target work and small-target shooting at distance, so one scope can handle training, rimfire use and general field shooting without feeling over-specialized.
First focal plane reticle: the reticle scales with magnification, which keeps holdovers and ranging references consistent throughout the zoom range and makes corrections easier when power settings change.
Side focus parallax adjustment: adjustable from 5 Yards-Infinity, helping the image and reticle stay on the same plane for sharper aiming at short airgun or rimfire distances as well as longer shots.
30 mm tube with tactical turrets: gives the scope a sturdy platform and precise 1/4 MOA click adjustment, which is useful for repeatable zeroing and deliberate elevation or windage changes on the range.
Fully multicoated, nitrogen-filled construction: supports better light transmission while the waterproof, fogproof and shockproof build keeps the optic usable in changing weather and regular field handling.

About the Discovery Optics VT-Z Series

The Discovery Optics VT-Z series is a family of riflescopes built around practical magnification ranges and straightforward mechanical layouts for hunting and airgun use. Within the series, Discovery Optics offers both fixed 4x models and variable-power designs such as 3-12x, 4-16x and 6-24x, giving shooters options from compact general-purpose setups to optics better suited to more deliberate shot placement at longer distances.

A defining trait of the VT-Z line is its broad mix of configurations. The series includes first focal plane and second focal plane versions, along with illuminated and non-illuminated models, so users can choose between simpler daylight-focused scopes and reticle systems better suited to holdover work. Some VT-Z models also add side-parallax focusing, which is especially useful when shooting at varied distances where image sharpness and aiming precision matter. Reticle options such as MIL-DOT and MIL-line designs keep the series oriented toward practical field use rather than purely cosmetic styling.

About the Discovery Optics VT-Z 4-16x40SF FFP

The Discovery Optics VT-Z 4-16x40SF FFP is a compact variable-power riflescope designed for shooters who need more flexibility than a fixed-power optic but still want a manageable size on the rifle. Its 4-16x magnification range gives enough low-end field awareness for shorter-range work while providing the top-end precision needed for small targets, load development and careful shot placement. That makes it a sensible fit for rimfire rifles, air rifles and general-purpose tactical-style setups where distances can change quickly.

The scope’s first focal plane reticle is one of its most useful features in practice. Because the reticle remains proportional to the target as magnification changes, holdover and ranging references stay consistent across the zoom range. This is particularly helpful for shooters who do not stay at maximum magnification all the time and still want reticle subtensions to remain meaningful. The side focus parallax adjustment, with a range of 5 Yards-Infinity, further broadens the scope’s usefulness by allowing precise focus and reduced aiming error at very short and extended distances alike.

Mechanically, the VT-Z 4-16x40SF FFP uses a 30 mm tube and tactical turrets with 7mm/100m - 1/4MOA clicks, giving the shooter a direct and repeatable adjustment feel for zeroing and correction. The fully multicoated lenses help maintain a clear image with good contrast, while the nitrogen-filled, waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction is intended for regular outdoor use where temperature changes, moisture and recoil resistance all matter.

About Discovery Optics

Discovery Optics states that it was established in 2009 and lists its main operations in Bao'an, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. The company focuses on rifle scopes for shooting and hunting and also offers electro-optical sighting devices, which places it across both conventional optics and more technology-driven observation categories. Its catalogue includes scope families such as XED, ED, LHD and HD, along with thermal imaging products for hunting applications.

Within the riflescope segment, Discovery Optics offers models with both first-focal-plane and second-focal-plane reticles, reflecting a product range aimed at different shooting styles rather than a single format. That breadth is relevant to the VT-Z line, which sits within a wider portfolio of field, hunting and target-oriented optics.

Can this optical sight be used on an air rifle from July 20?

Da li ovaj optički nisan može na zračnu pušku od 20 jula?

by Nikša

Dear Sir/Madam!

We would rather not recommend using this scope on such a powerful spring-loaded air rifle.

Poštovani!

Radije ne bismo preporučili korištenje ovog nišana na tako snažnoj zračnoj pušci s oprugom.
