Leupold Freedom RDS Muzzleloader 1x34 without Mount

• 1 MOA red dot: The fine aiming point supports more precise shot placement than larger dots, which is especially useful when stretching the practical range of a modern muzzleloader.
• CDS elevation setup: This version is built around Leupold’s Custom Dial System concept, giving hunters a more intuitive way to manage holdover and elevation corrections in the field.
• True 1x sight picture: The non-magnified view keeps target acquisition fast and natural, helping maintain awareness of the surroundings during close to mid-range hunting shots.
• 34 mm tube with fully multicoated optics: The large tube format and coated lenses help deliver a bright, clear image and a generous viewing window for quicker sight alignment.
• Waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction: The sealed housing is built for wet weather, temperature changes, and recoil, so the sight remains dependable through hard field use.

About the Leupold Freedom RDS Series

Leupold introduced the Freedom RDS series in 2019 as a practical red-dot line for recreational shooters and hunters who want a simple, durable 1x sight without moving into a heavier tactical format. Built around a 34 mm main tube and an illuminated red-dot reticle, the series combines fast target acquisition with a familiar tube-style layout that works well on hunting rifles, AR-style platforms, and other carbines using 34 mm rings or dedicated mounts.

A defining feature of the line is Leupold’s Twilight Red Dot System, which is intended to keep the aiming point easy to pick up across changing light conditions while preserving a clean sight picture. Within the series, Leupold offers both standard models with capped adjustments and variants with specialized elevation arrangements, including BDC-oriented and muzzleloader-focused versions. Across the range, the design philosophy stays consistent: straightforward controls, dependable sealing, and a compact full-tube body that balances the speed of a red dot with the handling and durability expected from hunting optics.

About the Leupold Freedom RDS Muzzleloader 1x34 without Mount

The Leupold Freedom RDS Muzzleloader 1x34 without Mount is tailored for hunters using modern muzzleloaders in seasons or jurisdictions where 1x optics are permitted. Its key advantage is the combination of a 1 MOA red dot with 1/4 MOA click adjustments. That pairing gives the sight a finer level of correction than many red dots, making it better suited to careful zeroing and more deliberate shot placement at the longer distances where modern muzzleloaders can still be effective.

This model uses a 34 mm full-tube design with a 1x34 window format, which helps the shooter pick up the dot quickly while keeping the overall sight compact and light at 195.00 g. The red illuminated reticle is daylight-usable, and the push-button control allows manual intensity adjustment so brightness can be matched to open daylight, woodland shade, or the dimmer conditions common at the start and end of legal hunting hours. Auto Turn-Off helps conserve the battery during periods of inactivity, which is useful on a seasonal hunting optic that may spend long stretches in the field.

Mechanically, this version stands apart from standard Freedom RDS models because it is configured for muzzleloader use and supplied without a mount, allowing the shooter to choose a mounting solution that suits the rifle and preferred sight height. The waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction supports reliable use in rain, cold mornings, and under recoil, while the fully multicoated optics help maintain a clear sight picture when contrast and visibility matter most.

About Leupold

Leupold & Volpel was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1907 by Fred Leupold and Adam Volpel. Today, Leupold & Stevens, Inc. is headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon and remains a family-owned company focused on sport optics for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use. Its product range covers riflescopes, red dot sights, binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, and thermal optics, giving the brand a broad presence across both hunting and shooting categories.

Leupold’s history in riflescopes is especially relevant here. The company introduced its first riflescope, the Plainsman, in 1947, and later introduced the Duplex reticle in 1962, a design that became widely recognized in sporting optics. That long background in practical field optics carries into products like the Freedom RDS series, where the emphasis is on durable construction, clear sight pictures, and controls that remain straightforward under hunting conditions.
