Hy to the team!
My name is Mihai and I decide to go for a thermal scope VIDAR 2, for my hunting rifle CZ 557 Range Rifle (chambered in .308Win) - very good rifle. I will use this combo (Vidar + rifle) only for wild boars.
Pllease, advise me if you can, what type is better to choose :VIDAR 650L 2 or VIDAR 660L2?

With respect, Mihai

by MIHAI STEFANEL NISTE

Dear Sir!

Both models use the same 640 × 512 thermal sensor, so the image quality is essentially the same. The main difference is the lens system.

The Vidar 650L 2.0 has a fixed 50 mm lens with 2.8x base magnification. It is also considerably lighter, weighing approximately 687 g. It is a very good choice if you prefer a lighter and more compact setup on your CZ 557.

The Vidar 660L 2.0 features a Dual Field of View 20/60 mm lens system. With the 20 mm setting, you get a much wider field of view, which is particularly useful for scanning and following moving wild boar at shorter distances. By switching to the 60 mm setting, you get higher optical magnification for identification and shooting at longer distances. Its detection range is also longer, up to approximately 3,000 m compared with 2,600 m for the 650L.

For wild boar hunting, we would recommend the Vidar 660L 2.0 if the additional weight is not an issue. The ability to quickly switch between a wide field of view and higher magnification makes it considerably more versatile, especially when hunting wild boar at varying distances.

If you prefer a lighter and simpler setup and mostly hunt from a stand at relatively predictable distances, the Vidar 650L 2.0 would also be an excellent choice.

Please note that due to local legislation, thermal and night vision riflescopes can only be purchased from us in our physical stores in Slovenia.
