Schmidt & Bender Grey Filter 56 mm

• Color-neutral light reduction: The grey filter reduces incoming light without shifting color balance, helping maintain a natural sight picture in bright conditions.
• Homogeneous SCHOTT glass: High-quality optical glass supports a clear, even image, so the filter does its job without introducing distracting tint or uneven transmission.
• 56 mm objective fit: Sized for compatible Schmidt & Bender riflescopes with a 56 mm objective, it gives a model-specific fit instead of a loose universal solution.
• Thread-on attachment: The filter screws directly onto the objective for secure mounting in the field and quick removal when light conditions change.
• Double-sided thread design: The front female thread allows compatible protective lens covers to be fitted, so the filter can stay integrated into a practical field setup.

About the S&B Accessories Series

S&B Accessories is the factory accessory range developed to complement Schmidt & Bender riflescopes with model-specific add-ons rather than generic aftermarket parts. The series covers practical optical and handling accessories such as filters, anti-reflection devices, lens covers, adapters, cleaning kits and magnification levers, each intended to solve a specific field problem while preserving the fit and function of the scope it is made for. Within the range, Schmidt & Bender also offers objective sunshades to reduce stray light and reflections, killFlash devices with a honeycomb structure for reflection control, and eyepiece light-shade extenders in different mounting styles.

A defining characteristic of the series is its emphasis on compatibility by riflescope model. That matters in practice because accessories mounted at the objective or eyepiece need the correct dimensions and thread pattern to work securely and without interfering with normal use. For hunters and precision shooters alike, the S&B Accessories line provides a straightforward way to adapt an optic to changing light, concealment needs or handling preferences while staying within the manufacturer’s own system.

About the Schmidt & Bender Grey Filter 56 mm

The Schmidt & Bender Grey Filter 56 mm is a purpose-built objective accessory for shooters who need to manage excessive brightness without changing the character of the image. Its main role is targeted light reduction: in strong daylight or glare-heavy environments, too much light can make the sight picture harsh and visually fatiguing. By cutting light in a color-neutral way, this filter helps keep the image more comfortable to observe while preserving natural color rendition.

The filter uses homogeneous SCHOTT glass, which is important because a light-reducing filter should not compromise the optical quality of the riflescope it is attached to. In practical use, that means the accessory supports a clean, even image instead of adding obvious color cast or irregular darkening. The thread-on objective mounting keeps the filter secure under field use and makes it easy to install or remove as conditions change during a hunt or a day on the range.

Its double-sided thread adds useful flexibility. The rear thread attaches to compatible Schmidt & Bender 56 mm objective scopes, while the front female thread can accept compatible protective lens covers. That makes the Grey Filter 56 mm more than a simple insert: it becomes part of a practical riflescope setup for users who want controlled light transmission while retaining the convenience of front-end protection and a tidy, factory-matched fit.

About Schmidt & Bender

Schmidt & Bender was founded in 1957 by Helmut Schmidt and Helmut Bender in Biebertal-Fellingshausen, Germany. The company specializes in precision riflescopes for hunting, competition shooting, police and military use, and its headquarters remain in Biebertal. Over time, Schmidt & Bender developed a strong reputation for mechanically precise, application-specific optics, with product families such as Zenith and PM II forming an important part of its lineup.

The company expanded its manufacturing base in 1992 by establishing a Hungarian subsidiary built around an optical department acquired from MOM. In the hunting segment, the Zenith line marked an important step, with the first 2.5-10x56 Zenith introduced in 2001 and FlashDot illumination added to Zenith riflescopes from 2002. That background is relevant here because Schmidt & Bender’s accessories are designed around the same focus on fit, optical integrity and field use as its riflescopes.
