Nitehog Viper GEN2 650 LRF Product description

  • Integrated LRF and Ballistic Computer: The built-in laser rangefinder measures distances from 5 to 1200 m with ±1 m accuracy and feeds the result directly into Nitehog's proprietary ballistic computer, which displays the corrected point of impact on screen without a separate rangefinder or manual holdover calculation.
  • No Re-Zeroing with 3 Alignment Profiles: The clip-on is aligned once to each day optic and the settings are saved in one of three independent alignment profiles, so the device can be moved between rifles or riflescopes in seconds while the point of impact stays consistent.
  • High-Sensitivity 640×512 Sensor: The 640×512 VOx sensor with 12 μm pixel pitch and <15 mK NETD, combined with a 50 mm F1.2 lens and 60 Hz frame rate, delivers a detailed, smooth thermal image that helps game stand out even in rain, fog or low temperature contrast.
  • Target Lock and Recoil-Activated Video: When recoil is detected, Target Lock marks the shot position and an arrow points back to it if the animal leaves the field of view, while recoil-activated video automatically saves a clip of the moments before and after the shot for later review.

ABOUT THE NITEHOG VIPER GEN2 SERIES

The Nitehog Viper GEN2 series is Nitehog's second generation of compact thermal imaging clip-ons. The devices mount in front of a standard daytime riflescope, turning it into a thermal sight for night hunting while keeping the hunter's familiar day optic, reticle and zero.

The series includes the compact Viper GEN2 Hunter and TAC versions with a 35 mm F1.1 lens and a weight of under 330 g without battery, and the Viper GEN2 650 LRF, which adds a 50 mm lens, an integrated laser rangefinder and a ballistic computer.

All Viper GEN2 devices are built around a 640×512 VOx sensor with 12 μm pixel pitch and <15 mK thermal sensitivity, viewed on a 1024×768 OLED display. They are powered by a single 18650 battery, offer recoil-activated video and media functions such as snapshots, video recording and live streaming through the NiteVision mobile app.

A key principle of the series is that the clip-on can be used without repeated zeroing. Once aligned to a day optic, the point of impact remains consistent, so the hunter can switch between day and night use quickly.

ABOUT THE MODEL (NITEHOG VIPER GEN2 650 LRF)

The Nitehog Viper GEN2 650 LRF is a thermal imaging clip-on with an integrated laser rangefinder and ballistic computer, designed for hunting, pest control and sport shooting. It combines thermal detection, distance measurement and holdover calculation in a single device mounted in front of the day riflescope.

The 50 mm F1.2 lens provides a 15.35 m field of view at 100 m and a detection range of up to 2100 m for a human-size target under favourable conditions. Several image settings help adapt the picture to the situation. AI Scene mode automatically adjusts contrast for forest, open field or mixed terrain, and dedicated Weather and Filter settings optimise image processing for ambient conditions, alongside several colour palettes including Black Hot, White Hot and Ironbow.

The laser rangefinder works in Single or continuous Scan mode, which is useful for moving game or ranging through vegetation. The ballistic computer stores up to five bullet profiles with data such as zeroing range, scope height, click value, ballistic coefficient and muzzle velocity, and uses the live distance to display the holdover directly in the image.

The device mounts on the day optic via the M33.5×0.75 thread. Nitehog states that the point of impact matches that of the day optic, with a deviation typically within 3 cm at 100 m. Fine alignment is done in the menu with 2.6 cm @ 100 m clicks and saved in one of three alignment profiles. Besides Clip-on mode, the device can be used as a handheld thermal scope in Observation mode with 1×/2×/3×/4× digital zoom, or in Helmet mode.

The magnesium alloy housing weighs 385 g without battery, is rated IP67 and is designed to withstand recoil. The external 18650 battery provides around 5 hours of operation and can be swapped quickly in the field. The device starts in under 6 seconds, offers 64 GB of internal storage and Wi-Fi connection to the NiteVision app, and is designed and manufactured in the EU.
