Meprolight Tru-Dot for Ruger SR9, SR9C, SR40, SR40C

• Tritium night sight system: Self-illuminated tritium dots stay visible in low light and darkness without batteries, giving a consistent sight picture for defensive use at any hour.
• Three-dot alignment: The fixed 3-dot layout is easy to read under stress, helping the shooter pick up the front sight quickly and confirm alignment faster than plain black sights.
• Steel construction: A steel sight body stands up better to daily carry, repeated holstering, and hard use than softer materials, making it a practical upgrade for duty or defensive pistols.
• Fixed-duty configuration: The fixed front and rear setup keeps the sight picture simple and stable, with no adjustment controls to snag or shift during regular carry.
• Ruger-specific fit: Built for the Ruger SR9, SR9C, SR40, and SR40C, this set offers a direct replacement format for shooters who want improved low-light capability on compatible pistols.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot Series

Meprolight Tru-Dot is the company’s established line of self-illuminated handgun sights, built for shooters who want a clear aiming reference in both daylight and reduced light without relying on batteries. In Meprolight’s current handgun range, the series includes fixed, adjustable, and suppressor-height variants, which lets it cover everyday carry pistols, service handguns, and specialized setups with optics or suppressors. Across the range, the defining feature is tritium illumination, which keeps the dots visible at night while preserving the same basic sight picture used in daytime shooting.

Tru-Dot models are made as replacement front-and-rear sight sets for specific handgun platforms, and the series spans pistols from multiple manufacturers. The familiar three-dot sight picture is intended to remain easy to interpret under changing light conditions, which is especially useful on defensive handguns where speed matters more than complex sight references. Some versions are also offered with different tritium dot color combinations, while adjustable models add windage and elevation correction for shooters who want to fine-tune point of impact. Overall, the series focuses on simple operation, durable construction, and low-light readiness in a format that remains close to conventional iron sights.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot for Ruger SR9, SR9C, SR40, SR40C

This Meprolight Tru-Dot sight set is configured for the Ruger SR9, SR9C, SR40, and SR40C, giving these pistols a straightforward low-light upgrade while keeping the handling and presentation of a conventional iron-sight handgun. Its main advantage is the self-illuminated tritium system, which provides a visible aiming reference in darkness and transitional light without switches, batteries, or brightness settings. For a defensive or carry pistol, that matters because the sight remains ready as soon as the handgun is drawn.

The sight picture uses a 3-dot alignment with a square rear sight, a combination that balances quick front-sight acquisition with a familiar rear notch reference. In practical terms, this helps the eye center the front dot more naturally for close and moderate handgun distances, while still preserving enough definition for deliberate shots. Because the sights are fixed, the setup favors reliability and a snag-free profile over user-adjustable controls, which suits pistols carried daily or used for home defense.

The housing is made from steel, which is important on a handgun sight set that must tolerate slide movement, repeated holster wear, and general handling. Finished in black, the body keeps visual distraction low around the glowing dots. As a complete night-sight replacement for compatible Ruger pistols, this model is aimed at shooters who want a durable, always-on iron-sight solution rather than an electronic aiming system.

About Meprolight

Meprolight was founded in 1990 as a supplier of sights and battle optics to the Israel Defense Forces. Based in Or Akiva, Israel, the company develops and manufactures optical and electro-optical sighting systems for military, law-enforcement, and civilian users. Its catalog covers conventional sights, tritium night sights, reflex optics, magnified optics, night-vision systems, and thermal devices, reflecting a broad focus on sighting solutions rather than a single product type.

The company produces systems for pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines, which is why its handgun sight lines are shaped by the same practical emphasis on durability and fast target acquisition seen across its tactical optics. Meprolight is also a division of SK Group, and its reputation in the shooting market is closely tied to self-illuminated sighting products designed for hard use and low-light conditions.
