Hawke Sidewinder 30 FFP 4-16x50

• First Focal Plane reticle: the reticle scales with magnification, so holdovers and wind calls stay consistent across the zoom range for faster corrections in hunting and long-range shooting.
• 4-16x magnification range: low enough for versatile field use and high enough for precise shot placement at distance, giving one riflescope a broad working envelope.
• Lockable tactical turrets: exposed turrets allow quick dialing, while the locking design helps prevent accidental movement when the rifle is carried or handled in the field.
• Side focus from 9 m to infinity: parallax can be tuned for close and long distances, improving target sharpness and helping the reticle stay more precise on small or distant targets.
• 50 mm objective with fully multicoated optics: the larger front lens and coated glass support a bright, high-contrast image, which is especially useful in poor light and on detailed targets.

About the Hawke Sidewinder Series

Hawke Sidewinder sits near the top of Hawke’s riflescope range and is built for shooters who want a more advanced optic for hunting and long-range shooting. Hawke added first focal plane Sidewinder models in 2018, then introduced a redesigned Sidewinder line in 2020 with both first- and second-focal-plane options. Across the redesigned family, the series uses a 30 mm main tube, H5 optics, and 18-layer multi-coated Crown glass to balance image quality, adjustment range, and mechanical strength.

What defines the series in practical use is its combination of target-style control and field usability. Shared features include resettable locking turrets with 1/10 mrad clicks and a witness window, side-focus adjustment, an illuminated reticle with an adjustable multi-LED system, and a fast-focus eyepiece with a lock ring. The series is designed for shooters who dial corrections regularly but still need a scope that handles varied distances and changing light well. In the Sidewinder range, the emphasis is not just on magnification, but on repeatable adjustments, a usable reticle system, and optical performance suited to both deliberate target work and practical field shooting.

About the Hawke Sidewinder 30 FFP 4-16x50

Hawke Sidewinder 30 FFP 4-16x50 is a versatile tactical riflescope that combines a useful 4-16x magnification range with a 50 mm objective lens for shooters who need one optic to cover medium-distance hunting, range work, and more deliberate long-range shooting. At 4x, it remains manageable for wider target acquisition, while 16x gives enough image scale for precise aiming on smaller targets or for reading impact and detail at distance. Its field of view of 10.60 m/100m to 2.70 m/100m reflects that balance between awareness at lower power and precision at higher power.

The first focal plane reticle is central to how this model works in practice. Because the reticle stays proportional throughout the zoom range, holdover and windage references remain true as magnification changes, which is especially useful when there is no time to return to one preset power. Red illumination helps the aiming point stand out against dark backgrounds without changing the reticle’s underlying layout.

This model also suits shooters who prefer dialing corrections. Its lockable tactical turrets offer 26.00 mrad of elevation and windage travel, giving ample adjustment for distance work while helping prevent accidental turret movement during transport or field use. Side focus from 9 m to inf allows parallax correction across a very broad distance range, and the 102.00 mm eye relief supports a stable, comfortable shooting position. A fast-focus eyepiece speeds up reticle sharpening, while the nitrogen-filled, waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction makes the scope suitable for hard outdoor use.

About Hawke

Hawke Optics is headquartered in the United Kingdom and focuses on sporting optics across several categories, including riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, and laser rangefinders. Its riflescope catalogue covers a wide span of applications, with ranges such as Frontier, Sidewinder, Endurance, Airmax, and Vantage. Hawke also builds optics for crossbows, shotguns, and airguns, which helps explain the brand’s broad approach to reticle design, mounting formats, and practical shooting features.

Within riflescopes, Hawke offers both first-focal-plane and second-focal-plane systems, giving shooters options for either hold-based or more traditional setups. The company’s higher-tier optics are known for multi-coated glass and purpose-built reticle systems, while Frontier riflescopes also use a patented zero-shift anti-recoil reticle gimbal. In practical terms, Hawke has built its reputation around feature-rich sporting optics that are configured for real field use rather than stripped-down target-only designs.
