Hawke Endurance 30 FD 1.7-10x42 Product description

  • Fibre Optic Illumination with Digital Push-Button Control: The LR2 FD reticle uses red digital fibre optic illumination with 11 brightness levels, controlled via a push-button system with auto-standby and motion activation. The fibre optic centre point remains clearly visible in full daylight — a practical advantage in fast-moving hunting situations where a dim or washed-out reticle would slow target acquisition.
  • Wide Magnification Range for Versatile Field Use: The 1.7–10× magnification range covers a broad spread of hunting scenarios from close-range driven hunting to medium-distance stalking and open-country use. The 1.7× minimum provides a wide, bright sight picture for fast target engagement at short range, while the 10× upper end delivers adequate image scale for deliberate shot placement at extended hunting distances.
  • Ultra-Wide Field of View: At minimum magnification, the scope delivers a field of view of 22.8 metres at 100 metres — a notably wide sight picture that supports fast target identification and tracking in driven hunting situations where the target may cross the field of view quickly and unpredictably.
  • H5 Optical System with 44mm Objective Lens: High-grade, low-dispersion crown glass combined with 18-layer fully multi-coated lenses and a 44mm objective delivers high light transmission and a bright, high-contrast image across the magnification range. An exit pupil of 25.9 mm at 1.7× ensures a full, accessible sight picture even when the eye is not precisely aligned behind the scope — a key practical advantage in dynamic hunting situations.
  • Capped Low-Profile Resettable Turrets: The low-profile capped turrets provide 180 MOA of adjustment on both elevation and windage in ¼ MOA click increments, with a resettable zero. The capped design protects against accidental adjustment during carry and handling, which is appropriate for a hunting scope used primarily in dynamic field conditions.
  • Auto-Standby and Motion Activation: The illumination system automatically deactivates when the rifle is stationary and reactivates when motion is detected, extending battery life across a full day in the field without requiring the shooter to remember to turn the illumination off manually between uses.
  • Compact and Lightweight for Hunting Use: At 338 mm in length and 582 g, the Endurance 30 FD 1.7-10x44 is a compact, field-practical optic that adds minimal weight and bulk to the rifle, making it well suited to driven hunt rifles, mountain hunting builds, and any platform where total system weight is a consideration.
  • 102mm Eye Relief with High-Volume Eyebox: The 102mm of eye relief and high-volume eyebox allow a full sight picture to be obtained quickly and from a range of head positions — a key requirement in driven hunting or any fast-paced field situation where precise eye placement behind the scope is not always possible.

About the Endurance 30 FD Series

The Hawke Endurance 30 FD series is a range of variable riflescopes built on the H5 optical system within a 30mm aluminium mono-tube chassis, designed for hunters and field shooters who need a versatile, lightweight optic covering close-range dynamic shooting and medium-range precision work from a single platform.

A defining feature of the Endurance 30 FD series is the use of red digital fibre optic illumination with 11 brightness levels and a push-button control system incorporating auto-standby and motion activation. The fibre optic system produces a reticle centre point that is clearly visible in full daylight — a meaningful advantage over conventional LED illumination at lower magnification settings, where reticle brightness against a bright outdoor background is a common practical limitation.

All Endurance 30 FD models feature high-grade, low-dispersion crown glass with 18-layer fully multi-coated lenses, a high-volume eyebox, and 102mm of eye relief. The series uses a 6× zoom ratio across all its magnification configurations, and all models are fitted with capped, low-profile, resettable turrets suited to field use. The lineup comprises six models: 1-6x24 (L4A FD), 1.7-10x44 (LR2 FD), 2-12x50 (LR2 FD), 3-18x44 SF (Mountain Hunter — a lightweight configuration designed specifically for high-country hunting), 3-18x50 SF (LR2 FD), and 4.5-27x56 SF (LR2 FD), covering applications from close-range driven hunting to long-range precision field use.

About the Model (Hawke Endurance 30 FD 1.7-10x44 LR2 FD)

The Hawke Endurance 30 FD 1.7-10x44 is a variable riflescope designed for hunting across a wide range of distances and terrain types, from driven hunting in dense woodland to open-country stalking where shots may be taken at medium range. The 1.7–10× magnification range provides a practical spread of 6× zoom ratio, with a field of view of 22.8 metres at 100 metres at minimum power — wide enough for fast target acquisition in driven hunting — and a 10× upper limit that delivers the image detail needed for confident shot placement at typical hunting distances in open terrain.

The 44mm objective lens, combined with the H5 optical system and 18-layer fully multi-coated lenses, provides high light transmission and a bright, high-contrast image across the magnification range. An exit pupil of 25.9 mm at 1.7× gives the scope an exceptionally accessible sight picture at low power, requiring minimal precision in eye placement to achieve a full, unvignetted image. This is particularly useful in driven hunting situations where the scope must be brought to the eye and a target engaged quickly. The high-volume eyebox and 102mm of eye relief further reduce the precision required for fast target engagement from a range of head positions.

The LR2 FD reticle is a second focal plane design with subtensions calibrated at 10×, the scope's maximum magnification. The illuminated centre point uses red digital fibre optic illumination with 11 brightness levels, controlled via a push-button system with auto-standby and motion activation. The fibre optic illumination provides a daylight-bright aim point without the battery drain associated with high-intensity LED systems, and the automatic standby function ensures the battery is preserved during periods when the rifle is stationary.

The capped, low-profile, resettable turrets offer 180 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment in ¼ MOA click increments. The parallax is fixed at 91 metres, removing the need for parallax adjustment during fast-moving field situations. The locking fast-focus eyebell allows dioptre adjustment to be secured once set, and the removable zoom throw lever enables rapid magnification changes without breaking cheek weld. At 338 mm in length and 582 g, the scope is compact and lightweight relative to its feature set. The mono-tube is nitrogen purged and fully sealed, providing waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance rated for all calibres.

Hawke Endurance 30 FD 1.7-10x42.

Hi, I wonder if the objective diameter really is right for this product? According to Hawkes websight the diameter is 44? And I would like some help to choose the right size for Hawkes flip up covers, both objective and ocular. Standard model, not the Pro model. A price estimate for the total cost of these products, and the cheapest freight rate to Sweden.

by Evert Carlsson

Dear Sir!

Yes, the specifications can be a bit confusing. The objective lens diameter is 44 mm, while the outer diameter of the objective housing is approximately 51 mm.

For flip-up covers, Hawke specifies the following:

Objective (front):
Flip-Up Cover for 44 mm (Code 61007)
https://www.optics-trade.eu/si/hawke-objective-flip-up-covers-44-mm.html
Alternative (Professional model):
https://www.optics-trade.eu/si/hawke-professional-flip-up-cover.html
Ocular (eyepiece):
Pro Flip-Up Cover for 46 mm (Code 61150)
https://www.optics-trade.eu/si/hawke-professional-flip-up-cover-eyepiece.html

For shipping to Sweden, the exact cost depends on the selected delivery service and will be calculated at checkout (usually starting from approx. 10–15 €).
