GRS Thumbhole, Blaser R8 Professional

• Thumbhole hunting stock design: The GRS Thumbhole gives the firing hand a repeatable, relaxed grip that helps steady the rifle in unsupported field positions and during longer range sessions.
• Adjustable cheek piece: Built-in cheek height adjustment makes it easier to align the eye naturally behind the optic, improving comfort and helping maintain a consistent sight picture from shot to shot.
• Birch laminate construction: The laminate build combines stiffness with good dimensional stability, giving the stock a solid feel in changing weather and under regular hunting use.
• SpeedLock adjustment system: GRS SpeedLock allows fast stock fit changes without slowing the shooter down, which is especially useful when switching clothing layers or refining head position for different optics.
• Blaser R8 Professional fit with glass bedding interface: This version is made for the Blaser R8 Professional platform and uses a glass-bedded setup to support a secure action fit and consistent accuracy potential.

About the GRS Thumbhole Series

The GRS Thumbhole series is the company’s first thumbhole stock design and sits within the brand’s laminate hunting stock range. It is built for shooters who want a stock that works equally well in the field and on the range, combining a more supportive grip shape with the practical adjustability that has become central to GRS design. The series uses birch laminate with an oiled finish, giving it the dense, solid feel many hunters and target shooters prefer, while also keeping the stock suitable for hard outdoor use.

A defining feature across the range is GRS SpeedLock adjustment, which allows the stock to be adapted quickly for a better cheek weld and a more natural shooting position. That makes the Thumbhole series especially relevant for hunting rifles fitted with optics, where eye alignment and repeatable head position matter as much as raw stability. The series is offered in several finishes, including Brown, Green Mountain Camo, Nordic Wolf, Orange, and Black, and it is available for multiple rifle platforms. In the GRS lineup, the Thumbhole series appeals to shooters who want the familiar warmth and rigidity of laminate construction together with a more controlled, ergonomic grip layout.

About the GRS Thumbhole, Blaser R8 Professional

The GRS Thumbhole, Blaser R8 Professional is a purpose-built laminate hunting stock for shooters who want to improve rifle fit and handling on the Blaser R8 Professional platform. Its thumbhole layout promotes a more secure hand position than a conventional hunting stock, which helps the rifle settle naturally in standing, kneeling, and supported prone positions. That makes it well suited to mixed hunting use, including alpine hunting, driven hunt, stalking, and woodland hunting, where shooting positions and time pressure can change quickly.

The stock combines its ergonomic shape with an adjustable cheek piece, allowing the shooter to raise the comb for a cleaner line of sight through a riflescope. In practical use, this helps reduce head lift and encourages a more repeatable cheek weld, which supports steadier aim and more consistent shot placement. The 390.00 mm length of pull and 40.00 mm forend width give the stock a balanced hunting profile that remains comfortable to carry while still offering enough front-end support for controlled shooting off bags, rests, or natural terrain.

Its laminate construction contributes stiffness and a planted feel, while the glass bedding setup is chosen to support a precise action fit. For the Blaser R8 Professional inlet, glass bedding is especially relevant because it helps the stock and action interface stay consistent under recoil. With a weight of 1300.00 g and an overall length of 740.00 mm, this model stays within the practical limits expected of a hunting stock while adding the fit and control benefits that matter when a rifle is carried far and shot carefully.

About GRS

GRS began in 2010 in Grodås, Hornindal, Norway, and the company remains headquartered in Hornindal. The business focuses on rifle stocks for hunting and shooting, with a range that covers laminate, composite, and aluminum chassis designs. Its background is rooted in a family business that started in 1983 as Grodås Møbler AS, a furniture manufacturer, which helps explain GRS’s long-standing emphasis on shaping, fit, and practical ergonomics.

Within the shooting market, GRS is known for product families such as Hunter Light, Sporter, Bifrost, Fenris, Warg, and Ragnarok, as well as for its SpeedLock adjustment system. The company began producing laminate rifle stocks in 2011, and that combination of stock-making experience and adjustment-focused design is especially relevant to models like the Thumbhole, where comfort, repeatable head position, and field usability are central to the product concept.
