Hawke Frontier 34 3-18x50 FFP Product description

  • First Focal Plane Reticle (FFP Mil Pro Ext or MOA Pro Ext): The reticle is positioned in the first focal plane, which means its subtensions remain accurate at every magnification setting. Holdovers, ranging, and wind corrections can be applied at any zoom level without recalculation — a key practical advantage for long-range shooting where conditions change quickly.
  • Patented Zero Lock 'N' Stop Elevation Turret: The exposed elevation turret features a physical zero stop that prevents rotation below the set zero. After dialling elevation for a long-range shot, the shooter can return to the original zero by simply rotating the turret clockwise until it stops — without counting clicks or tracking revolutions.
  • 34mm Mono-Tube Chassis with Extended Adjustment Range: The larger 34mm aluminium mono-tube provides significantly more internal volume than a standard 30mm design, enabling 46 MRAD (or 158 MOA) of total elevation travel. This generous mechanical range makes the scope suitable for demanding long-range applications where conventional designs would run out of adjustment.
  • H7 Optical System with 21-Layer Fully Multi-Coated Lenses: High-grade, low-dispersion crown glass combined with 21-layer fully multi-coated optics delivers high light transmission, strong contrast, and a sharp, detailed image across the full magnification range — including in reduced light conditions during early morning or late evening hunts.
  • Multi-LED Illuminated Reticle with 11 Brightness Levels: The reticle centre is illuminated in red with 11 intensity settings and off positions between each level, allowing precise adjustment to ambient light conditions. The stepped rheostat control makes it easy to find the right brightness without overshooting to an unsuitable level.
  • Wide Field of View with High-Volume Eyebox: At minimum magnification, the scope provides a 12.5-metre field of view at 100 metres, which supports rapid target identification in driven hunting scenarios or when transitioning between multiple targets. The generous eye box further reduces the need for precise head positioning under time pressure.
  • Locking Fast-Focus Eyebell: The fast-focus eyebell allows quick dioptre adjustment to match the shooter's vision, and the integrated locking ring secures the setting in place once focus is established — preventing unintentional movement during field use.
  • Nitrogen Purged, Sealed Construction: The mono-tube is sealed and nitrogen purged, making the scope waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof. Internal fogging is prevented even during rapid temperature changes, and the scope is rated for use with all calibres.

About the Frontier 34 FFP Series

The Hawke Frontier 34 FFP series sits at the top of Hawke's riflescope range, built around the company's H7 optical system and a precision-machined 34mm aluminium mono-tube chassis. The series is aimed at precision and long-range shooters who require high mechanical adjustment range, first focal plane reticle accuracy, and reliable optical performance across a wide variety of shooting conditions and applications.

All Frontier 34 FFP models are equipped with Hawke's H7 optics, which combine high-grade, low-dispersion crown glass with 21-layer fully multi-coated lenses. This specification is designed to deliver consistent image brightness, strong contrast, and clear edge-to-edge sharpness from the lowest to the highest magnification setting.

The defining mechanical feature of the series is the patented Zero Lock 'N' Stop elevation turret system. These exposed turrets are locking, resettable, and fitted with a physical zero stop that prevents the turret from travelling below the shooter's set zero. The 34mm tube diameter provides the internal volume required for significantly greater elevation travel than a standard 30mm design allows, making the Frontier 34 FFP series well suited to precision rifle competition, extended-range hunting, and any application where maximum mechanical adjustment is a priority.

The series is available in two configurations: Mil Pro Ext with MRAD-based reticle and turrets, and MOA Pro Ext with MOA-based reticle and turrets. Both variants share the same optical system, chassis dimensions, and feature set, allowing shooters to select the measurement system that matches their preferred ballistic workflow.

About the Model (Hawke Frontier 34 FFP 3-18x50)

The Hawke Frontier 34 FFP 3-18x50 is a first focal plane riflescope designed for precision shooting at extended ranges while remaining practical for driven hunting and mixed-distance field use. The 3–18× magnification range offers a 6× zoom ratio with a wide 12.5-metre field of view at 100 metres on the lowest setting — broad enough for fast target acquisition at close range — while the 18× upper limit provides the magnification needed for precise shot placement at longer distances.

The 50mm objective lens works together with the H7 optical system and 21-layer fully multi-coated lenses to deliver a bright, high-contrast image throughout the magnification range. The optical performance remains consistent from centre to edge, and the scope maintains usable image brightness in low-light field conditions encountered during hunting at dawn or dusk.

The scope is available in two reticle variants. The Mil Pro Ext version (art. no. 10.18620) uses MRAD-spaced reticle markings with hollow outer posts and holdover aim points extending to 15 mrad, paired with exposed elevation and windage turrets with 0.1 MRAD click values. Total elevation travel is 46 MRAD, and windage travel is 25 MRAD. The MOA Pro Ext version (art. no. 10.18621) uses MOA-spaced reticle markings with holdover aim points extending to 60 MOA, paired with ¼ MOA click-value turrets offering 158 MOA of elevation travel and 87 MOA of windage. In both variants, the reticle is illuminated in red with 11 brightness levels and off positions between each step, controlled via a stepped rheostat.

The elevation turret on both variants uses Hawke's patented Zero Lock 'N' Stop system: exposed, locking, resettable, and equipped with a physical zero stop. The windage turret is also exposed and locking, though without a zero stop. Side-mounted parallax adjustment covers 14 metres to infinity. The fast-focus eyebell includes a locking ring to hold the dioptre setting once established. A removable zoom throw lever is supplied as standard, enabling rapid magnification changes without breaking cheek weld.

The hard-anodised aluminium mono-tube is sealed and nitrogen purged, providing waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance. Overall length is 337 mm and weight is 790 g — a practical size and weight for field use on a bolt-action or semi-automatic rifle platform.

About Hawke

Hawke Optics is a British optics brand registered in England and Wales, with products distributed across Europe, North America, and international markets. The company produces a broad range of optical products including riflescopes, airgun scopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, red dot sights, and laser rangefinders, covering applications from hunting and sport shooting to nature observation and marine use.

Hawke organises its riflescope lineup into distinct optical system tiers — from the entry-level H2 through H5 to the flagship H7 — with each tier reflecting the glass specification, coating technology, and mechanical feature level of the products within it. The Frontier series is built on the H7 system, representing the highest optical and mechanical specification in Hawke's current riflescope range. Hawke products are backed by a no-fault lifetime warranty covering manufacturing defects.
