EAW pivot mount - lever lock, 26 mm, Chapuis Express

• Lever lock design: The closure sits on the mount rather than on the firearm, which makes this pivot mount especially practical on a break-action rifle such as the Chapuis Express and keeps handling straightforward when changing optics.
• Repeatable return to zero: The EAW pivot system is built so the scope can be removed and reattached without shifting point of impact, giving the rifle flexibility for different hunting setups without a fresh zeroing session.
• 26 mm ring interface: This version is made for classic 26 mm scope tubes, making it a strong match for traditional European hunting optics while keeping the installation compact and mechanically secure.
• Steel construction: A steel mount resists wear at the locking and bearing surfaces, which matters on a frequently detached mount where long-term fit and consistent engagement are critical.
• Low 14.00 mm build height: The low profile helps keep the optic close to the bore, supporting a natural cheek weld and preserving the balanced feel that is important on an express rifle.

About the EAW Pivot Mounts Series

EAW Pivot Mounts are the company’s long-established quick-detach mounting system for sporting rifles and other common long guns. EAW states that it introduced the pivot mount more than 50 years ago, and the concept remains focused on one practical goal: allowing an optic to be removed and reattached without changing point of impact. That makes the series useful not only for transport and maintenance, but also for rifles that alternate between a primary scope and a second aiming device.

A defining feature of the series is its adjustable front and rear mount-foot fit, which supports precise installation and consistent lock-up. Within the family, EAW also offers a lever-operated variant for break-action firearms. In that version, the closure is positioned on the scope mount instead of on the firearm, a layout that suits the handling and geometry of combination guns and express rifles. Across the range, the design philosophy is mechanical repeatability, durable steel construction, and a clean rifle-specific fit rather than a generic one-size-fits-all solution.

About the EAW pivot mount - lever lock, 26 mm, Chapuis Express

This EAW pivot mount is configured specifically for the Chapuis Express and uses a lever lock layout that suits break-action rifles particularly well. By placing the locking function on the mount, the system keeps operation simple and accessible while preserving the clean lines and handling characteristics of the rifle. For an express rifle that may be carried in dense cover, transported broken open, or used with more than one sighting setup, that practical handling advantage matters as much as raw strength.

The upper section is made for a 26 mm scope tube, a format often associated with classic European hunting optics. Combined with the 14.00 mm build height, it helps position the scope low over the bore for a more natural head position and quicker sight acquisition. The steel construction is equally important in real use: on a detachable mount, the bearing surfaces and locking points must hold their fit over repeated removal cycles, and steel provides the wear resistance needed for that job.

The mount also features a KR 45.0 mm extension, which helps accommodate scope positioning on the rifle. In practice, that gives more flexibility when setting eye relief and balancing the optic on a compact break-action platform. The result is a mount intended for hunters who want the traditional advantages of a detachable pivot system, but in a version tailored to the geometry and field use of a Chapuis Express.

About EAW

EAW was founded by Ernst Apel in Würzburg, Germany, in 1919. The company’s name goes back to 1923, when Ernst Apel acquired Elektro-Dental-Werke Frankfurt and changed the EDW brand to EAW, meaning Ernst Apel Würzburg. Although the company’s history began outside the sporting-optics field, it developed its first riflescope mounts in 1945, and since 1951 mount development and production have been its primary focus.

Today, EAW is known above all for German-made riflescope mounting systems, including pivot, slide-on or roll-off, and claw mounts. Production moved from Würzburg to Gerbrunn in 1970, and Ernst Apel GmbH is now headquartered in Eibelstadt, Germany. Alongside its traditional hunting mounts, EAW has expanded into newer areas such as tactical mounts and thermal imaging devices, but its reputation remains closely tied to precise, rifle-specific mounting solutions built for repeatable alignment and long service life.
