Dentler Base rail BASIS - Steyr Mannlicher Classic S

• Firearm-Specific Fit: This BASIS base rail is shaped for the Steyr Mannlicher Classic S platform, which helps ensure correct contact with the receiver and avoids improvised fitting work during installation.
• Modular BASIS Interface: The rail forms the rifle-side half of the Dentler BASIS system, allowing one compatible optic rail to be moved between rifles with the same interface for a more flexible hunting setup.
• Steel Construction: Made from steel, the base provides the rigidity needed for a secure optic foundation and dependable return to position under regular field use.
• Low 4.00 mm Build Height: The compact BH height. 4.00 mm keeps the mounting platform close to the rifle, supporting a more natural cheek weld and a tidier overall setup.
• Matte Black Finish: The black matte surface keeps reflections down and matches practical hunting rifles and optics without drawing unnecessary attention in the field.

About the BASIS Series

Dentler BASIS is a modular mounting family built for hunters who want a repeatable and adaptable way to use optics across different rifles. The system is based on a simple two-part concept: a firearm-specific base rail stays on the rifle, while an interchangeable optic mounting rail remains attached to the sight. This approach gives the BASIS series a clear role in Dentler’s lineup as the brand’s core modular solution for conventional hunting rifles.

A defining characteristic of the series is its focus on precise mechanical fit rather than universal compromise. Each base rail is matched to a specific firearm pattern, while the upper interface remains compatible with Dentler BASIS mounting rails for different optic footprints. In practice, this makes the series well suited to hunters who alternate between day scopes, red dots or other sighting systems depending on terrain and season. The BASIS concept also keeps the mounting height controlled and the handling straightforward, while the steel-based construction reflects Dentler’s emphasis on durability, repeatability and practical field use rather than unnecessary complexity.

About the Dentler Base rail BASIS - Steyr Mannlicher Classic S

The Dentler Base rail BASIS - Steyr Mannlicher Classic S is a rifle-specific mounting base made for shooters using Steyr SM 12 S, Steyr CL II S, Steyr Mannlicher Classic S and Steyr Pro Hunter S (After 2003) rifles with the Dentler modular system. Its job is straightforward but important: it creates the stable lower interface that lets a compatible Dentler upper rail lock onto the rifle in a consistent and practical way.

Because this model is tailored to the Steyr short-action pattern, it suits hunters who want a clean installation without resorting to generic adapters. The steel body gives the base the stiffness expected from a serious optic foundation, which matters when maintaining alignment through repeated use in the field. Its 4.00 mm build height helps keep the optic platform low over the receiver, which can improve head position and preserve the rifle’s handling qualities.

The dimensions A 21.84 mm, B 87.50 mm and C 21.84 mm reflect the compact footprint needed for this receiver pattern, while the matte black finish keeps the rail visually discreet on a hunting rifle. For users already invested in the Dentler ecosystem, the main advantage of this base is flexibility: once the rifle carries the correct BASIS lower rail, compatible Dentler optic rails can be paired with it as needed, making it easier to configure one rifle for different hunting roles.

About Dentler

Dentler Jagdwaffen was founded in 2011 by Daniel Dentler. Based in Leutkirch im Allgäu, Germany, the company focuses on modular riflescope mounting systems for hunting firearms. Its product range is centered on the BASIS and BASIS VARIO systems, both built around the idea of separating the rifle-side base from the optic-side mounting rail.

This specialization has made Dentler particularly relevant to hunters who use more than one optic or more than one rifle and want a consistent mounting concept across them. The company offers firearm-specific base rails and optic-specific mounting rails for a wide range of platforms, including interfaces for brands such as Aimpoint, Pulsar, Swarovski, Zeiss and Weaver/Picatinny. Dentler’s reputation in this category comes from its narrow focus on practical mounting geometry, modularity and German-made construction.
