DD Optics EDX 10x30 Fieldstar

• 10x magnification in a compact format: The 10x30 configuration brings distant detail closer without the bulk of a full-size binocular, making it well suited to hiking, travel, and daytime wildlife observation.
• ED glass with DDlucid coating: This optical system is designed to improve contrast, color fidelity, and edge sharpness, helping fine plumage, terrain detail, and game features stand out more clearly.
• Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms with dielectric phase coating: The prism design keeps the binocular slim and easy to pack, while the coatings support a bright, clean image for more confident observation in changing light.
• Lightweight single-hinge body: At 460.00 g and only 120.00 mm long, the binocular is easy to carry all day and simple to hold securely with one hand when moving through the field.
• Close focus to 1.30 m: The short close-focus distance makes the binocular useful not only for distant viewing, but also for nearby subjects such as insects, plants, and detail-rich nature observation.

About the DD Optics EDX Series

DD Optics EDX sits in the manufacturer’s premium binocular range and is built for users who want compact dimensions without giving up serious optical performance. The series is aimed at travel, nature observation, hunting, and long-distance viewing, with particular appeal for ornithologists and outdoor users who spend long hours glassing in the field. Rather than focusing only on portability, the EDX line combines a small footprint with the kind of optical features normally associated with larger binoculars.

A defining part of the series is its use of ED glass together with Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms and dielectric phase coatings. DD Optics also uses its DDlucid coating on the roof-prism surfaces, a feature intended to support high contrast, clean detail, and controlled edge sharpness. Within the range, DD Optics offers both 30 mm Fieldstar models and larger 50 mm versions, so the series covers users who prioritize either compact carry or stronger low-light performance. Across the family, the design philosophy is clear: practical field binoculars with premium optical construction, slim handling, and broad suitability for outdoor observation.

About the DD Optics EDX 10x30 Fieldstar

The DD Optics EDX 10x30 Fieldstar is the more detail-oriented compact model in the small-objective branch of the EDX family. Its 10.00 x magnification gives it an advantage when identifying distant birds, scanning open ground, or picking out fine detail on ridgelines and field edges, while the 30.00 mm objective lenses keep the binocular notably smaller and lighter than a typical 42 mm design. That balance makes it a practical choice for users who walk long distances, travel light, or want a binocular that fits easily into a daypack.

Optically, the binocular combines Roof - Schmidt/Pechan prisms with Fully Multicoated lenses, and the EDX line’s ED-glass concept is intended to deliver a crisp, high-contrast image with controlled color fringing. The 120.00 m/1000m field of view is broad enough for general wildlife observation, while the 1.30 m close focus adds versatility for nearby subjects. A 15.00 mm eye relief and right-eyepiece diopter adjustment help the binocular adapt to different users, including eyeglass wearers who need a more forgiving viewing position.

In daily use, the compact single-hinge body is one of this model’s strongest points. At 460.00 g, with central focusing and a slim profile, it is easy to carry on hikes and quick to bring on target. Nitrogen filling, waterproof construction, and fogproof protection support reliable use in wet or changeable weather, which is exactly where a compact hunting or hiking binocular needs to prove its value.

About DD Optics

DD Optics is a German family-owned optics company that says it was founded in 2007 in Dresden, Germany. In 2012, the company moved its headquarters to Chemnitz. DD Optics develops and sells binoculars, spotting scopes, rifle scopes, and night-vision devices, with a product focus that serves hunting, nature observation, birdwatching, and general outdoor use.

Within the binocular category, the brand is known for combining practical field design with higher-grade optical components such as ED glass, Schmidt-Pechan prisms, and its DDlucid coatings. DD Optics states that its binoculars and rifle scopes are mainly developed in Germany and mainly produced in Japan. That background is relevant to the EDX line, which reflects the company’s emphasis on compact handling, durable construction, and optical systems intended for demanding observation rather than occasional casual use.
