Vortex QR Red Dot AR15 Mount Riser

• Quick-release operation: The QR lever lets the riser go on and off a Picatinny rail quickly, which is useful for rifles that alternate between optics setups or need fast field servicing.
• Lower-third co-witness height: Built for AR-platform use, this riser positions a compatible red dot at a practical sight height that keeps iron sights visible without crowding the main aiming window.
• 6061 aluminum construction: Precision-machined aluminum keeps the mount light while still providing the rigidity needed to hold alignment under regular range and field use.
• Type III hard-coat anodized finish: The protective finish improves resistance to wear, handling marks, and weather exposure, helping the mount stay serviceable on hard-used carbines.
• Picatinny-to-Picatinny interface: The riser creates a stable raised mounting platform for red dots that already use a Picatinny clamp, giving more flexibility than a footprint-specific mount.

About the Vortex Red Dot Mounts Series

Vortex Red Dot Mounts cover several mounting needs across modern sporting and tactical rifles, handguns, and rimfire platforms. The series includes handgun slide mounts, Weaver and 3/8-inch rail mounts, and AR15 risers, so it serves both direct-fit applications and more universal rail-based setups. Within the range, the design focus is practical compatibility: some mounts replace the factory base supplied with a red dot, while others raise the optic to a more useful height for a specific firearm layout.

For AR-style rifles in particular, the series includes riser solutions built around quick-release handling and co-witness sight height. That makes them relevant for shooters who want a red dot positioned correctly on a flattop rifle without changing the optic itself. Other mounts in the family are more specialized, such as handgun-specific plates or rail adapters intended for certain Vortex red dots. Across the line, the common theme is a straightforward mechanical design that supports secure mounting, sensible optic height, and compatibility with the way red dots are actually used on different firearms.

About the Vortex QR Red Dot AR15 Mount Riser

The Vortex QR Red Dot AR15 Mount Riser is a dedicated riser for shooters who need a raised Picatinny mounting platform on a flattop AR-pattern rifle. Rather than attaching directly to a specific optic footprint, it works as an interface between the rifle’s rail and a red dot that already uses a Picatinny clamp. That makes it especially useful when the optic’s supplied base sits too low for comfortable head position on an AR.

The defining feature is the quick-release lever. In practice, that means the mount can be installed or removed without turning the rifle into a bench project, which is helpful for users who swap optics, transport rifles in compact cases, or maintain multiple upper receivers. The riser height is intended to place a compatible red dot at a lower-third co-witness position, so fixed or folding iron sights remain available in the sight picture without dominating it. This gives a cleaner view through the optic while preserving a usable backup sight reference.

Its 6061 aluminum body keeps weight low at 3.00 oz., which matters on carbines where balance and fast handling are part of the appeal. The Type III hard-coat anodized finish adds surface durability for repeated mounting, sling contact, and general field use. With 0 MOA inclination and a simple black anodized form, the riser is built for straightforward red-dot mounting rather than correction or cant, making it a practical accessory for AR setups that need the right optic height and fast attachment.

About Vortex

Vortex traces its roots to a Wild Birds Unlimited store opened by the Hamilton family in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1986. The brand entered the sport optics market in 2002 and has since focused on optics for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use. Headquartered in Barneveld, Wisconsin, Vortex is employee-owned and operated and offers a broad catalog that includes riflescopes, red dots, binoculars, spotting scopes, and laser rangefinders.

Within shooting optics, Vortex is known for building product families that cover entry-level through premium use cases, including well-established lines such as Razor, Viper, and Kaibab. The company also develops supporting technologies such as ballistic tools powered by GeoBallistics. That combination of field-oriented optics, mounting accessories, and shooting support tools makes Vortex a relevant manufacturer for AR-platform red dot setups and related mounting hardware.
