ATN OTS-HD 384 2-8x Product description

  • 384x288 thermal sensor: The 384x288 microbolometer gives this handheld thermal monocular enough detail for reliable observation while keeping the image clean and easy to interpret at practical field distances.
  • 2-8x viewing range: The 2x base magnification is useful for scanning and general observation, while the 8x upper end helps inspect heat signatures more closely without carrying a larger dedicated spotting device.
  • HD display with photo and video recording: The 1280x720 HD LCD screen presents a clear viewing image, and built-in recording lets the user document sightings, review observations later, or share footage from the field.
  • WiFi connectivity and onboard sensors: WiFi, compass, and the OTS HD platform’s sensor suite add practical navigation and device-linking functions that make the monocular more useful for guided observation and digital workflow.
  • Weather-ready polymer housing: The polymer body, waterproof and fogproof construction, and 8-hour battery life support regular outdoor use where changing weather and long sessions are part of the job.

About the ATN OTS HD Series

ATN OTS HD is a handheld thermal viewer family built around ATN’s earlier Obsidian “T” II thermal core and designed for users who wanted more than a basic spotter without moving to a dedicated weapon sight. The series sits among ATN’s previously produced products, and it was developed as a line of thermal monoculars for observation, scouting, wildlife detection, and general field awareness in darkness, fog, or visually cluttered terrain. Across the range, ATN offered models with either 384x288 or 640x480 sensors, and each sensor tier was paired with several lens and magnification configurations so users could choose between wider-area scanning and longer-distance inspection.

What defines the series is its combination of thermal viewing with digital features that were advanced for its class at the time. Shared functions include photo and video recording to microSD, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS geotagging, smooth zoom, and an electronic compass. The platform also integrates a 3D gyroscope, 3D accelerometer, and 3D magnetometer, giving the OTS HD series a more instrumented feel than a simple handheld viewer. In practice, that makes the series suitable for users who want thermal detection together with recording, navigation support, and app-based connectivity in one compact unit.

About the ATN OTS-HD 384 2-8x

The ATN OTS-HD 384 2-8x is the wider-view, mid-power configuration in the 384-resolution branch of the series. Its 2-8x magnification range and 25.00 mm objective lens make it well suited to handheld thermal observation where the user needs to scan ground efficiently and then study a detected heat source in more detail. With a 12.00 ° field of view at the wide end and a stated 800.00 m detection range, it balances area coverage and reach in a way that works well for wildlife observation, property monitoring, and general night-time surveillance.

The thermal system uses a 384x288 microbolometer with 60.00 mK NETD and a 9.00 Hz refresh rate. In practical use, that means the device is aimed more at deliberate scanning and observation than fast-moving tracking, while still providing enough thermal contrast to separate animals, people, or other warm objects from the background. The 1280x720 HD LCD display gives the viewer a sharper presentation than older low-resolution screens, and onboard image capture and 1280x960 video recording make it easier to document what was seen without extra equipment.

ATN also gave this model features that improve field usability beyond basic thermal viewing. WiFi connectivity supports digital integration, the built-in compass helps with orientation, and the monocular is tripod adaptable for steadier long observation sessions. Its polymer housing, waterproof and fogproof construction, 700.00 g weight, and 8.00 h battery life keep it practical as a carryable thermal monocular for regular outdoor use.

About ATN

ATN was founded in 1995 in Silicon Valley, California, and it is a United States company headquartered in Doral, Florida. The company focuses on night-vision, thermal-imaging, and digital day-and-night optics, covering handheld viewers, weapon sights, and binocular-style systems. ATN’s product range spans traditional image-intensifier night vision as well as digital and thermal platforms, which is why the brand is closely associated with electronically enhanced hunting and observation optics.

Its development history is especially relevant in digital and thermal categories. ATN introduced the X-Sight II HD digital day-and-night sight series in 2015, and in 2018 it launched products built around the Obsidian 4 Dual Core platform. The company also introduced the ThOR LT thermal scope series in 2020. That background helps explain ATN’s emphasis on feature-rich optics that combine imaging, onboard recording, app connectivity, and sensor-based functions in a single device.
