Arken Optics SH-4 4-16x50 Gen II Product description

Excellent Entry-Level Precision Scope: The Arken SH-4 Gen II 4-16x50 is designed for shooters who demand reliable mechanical and optical performance at a competitive price. It offers a versatile magnification range, premium construction, and features typically reserved for higher-end optics.

Built for Precision: With a first focal plane (FFP) reticle and precise MIL or MOA-based turret system, the SH-4 Gen II is engineered for repeatable accuracy and true tracking performance. The zero stop turrets provide tactile and audible clicks for fast, confident adjustments.

Impressive Optical Clarity: The scope features Japanese multi-coated glass that delivers bright, sharp images throughout the magnification range. Edge-to-edge clarity and contrast remain consistent even in lower light conditions thanks to the large 50 mm objective lens.

Rugged Tactical Construction: Housed in a 34 mm main tube and built from aircraft-grade aluminum, the SH-4 Gen II is shockproof up to .50 BMG, nitrogen-purged, and fully waterproof. It is a tough, field-ready optic for tactical shooters and hunters alike.

ABOUT THE SH-4 SERIES

The SH-4 series by Arken Optics is designed for precision and tactical shooters seeking top-tier functionality in an affordable platform. Gen II improvements include refined turret mechanisms, better reticle illumination controls, and enhanced build quality compared to the original version.

These scopes offer FFP reticles, zero stop systems, and rugged construction, making them suitable for both PRS-style competition and long-range recreational use. The SH-4 Gen II models are known for offering one of the best price-to-performance ratios in their category.

ABOUT THE MODEL (ARKEN SH-4 GEN II 4-16x50)

The Arken SH-4 Gen II 4-16x50 features a 4-16x zoom range, making it ideal for medium to long-range engagements. It includes a 50 mm objective lens and a fast-focus eyepiece for quick reticle clarity adjustment. The scope is built on a 34 mm tube, offering generous internal adjustment for elevation and windage.

The VPR FFP reticle (available in MIL or MOA) stays proportional throughout the zoom range and supports precise holdovers, ranging, and corrections. It also features red illumination with multiple brightness levels. The scope is compatible with powerful calibers and can handle recoil up to and including .50 BMG.

The turret system is designed with zero stop functionality, 10 MIL/25 MOA per revolution, and a total elevation range of up to 32 MILs. Windage travel is up to 16 MILs. Each click is positive, audible, and repeatable — key for precision shooting under time or stress.

GREAT SCOPE

I run two SH-4 Gen2 4-16x50 w/ mil reticles on 6.5 PRC bolt guns. The glass quality is outstanding (lens manufactured in Japan by JOL), particularly for the price. Adjustments are crisp, and the zero-stop reset is extremely useful for when adjusting between close and long range applications. I also find that 4-16x is an extremely versatile mag. range. At 4-9x for shots under 100m, such as in brushy or wooded areas; 10-16x shines when hunting open range, and while I would be reluctant to take more than a 200m shot at game, at 14-16x you can still ring steel out to 600m.

My only complaint is weight: it's undeniably heavy (which I chose to interpret as a sign of quality manufacturing). That said, weight doesn't necessarily pose a problem as long as it's paired with the right rifle. With the SH-4, my 24" heavy barrel 6.5 weighs in just under 12 lbs. empty, which is hefty but just fine for a bench gun or blind. On my mountain rifle in the same caliber, its under 9 lbs.--plenty light for stalking over long distance and lugging up hills.
