Introduction
Vortex AMG UH-1 is a red dot sight of the holographic type, a system that is still produced only by a few optics manufacturers. Today, Vortex announced the release of the second generation which features several improvements over the previous one.
Holographic sights are more advanced in design than standard reflex red dot sights. Reflex red dot sights are equipped with an LED that emits a beam that reflects from the lens and travels to the shooter’s eye. In holographic sights, laser diodes and mirrors are used to project a holographic reticle.

New features
At 310 grams, the new, upgraded model is approx. 20 grams lighter than its predecessor, with a lower profile. The window size has been increased, making target acquisition faster. 4 illumination intensity settings suitable for pairing with night vision devices have been added (they are accessed with a dedicated NV button), widening the range of use. You no longer need a tool to access the battery compartment.

General properties
Other characteristics remain the same. AMG UH-1 is a robust red dot sight, designed for an AR-platform. It can withstand rough conditions and extreme temperatures as low as –40 degrees Celsius. You can mount it on the strongest kicking calibers without having any second thoughts. This made-in-the-USA sight features ½ MOA elevation and windage adjustment clicks. The EBR-CQB reticle has a 1 MOA dot in the centre, ensuring maximum precision at close to medium range. It comes with an integrated Picatinny mount with a QD mechanism which consists of a lockable lever. The illumination is powered by a CR123A battery.
The image seen through the lens is clear, without any tint or distortion. One can look through with both eyes open without problems, a proof that the magnification is truly 1x. Vortex’s XR™ Plus coating ensures optimal light transmission. As the optical part is completely sealed, you do not have to worry about dust or rain impeding the optical experience. The red dot is parallax free and boasts an unlimited eye relief. If you leave the illumination on, it will automatically turn off after 14 hours of inactivity to preserve battery life – this feature can be disabled.
