Introduction
Hikmicro is becoming increasingly competitive in the field of thermal imaging devices designed for hunting. They are using sturdier materials and better components, such as sensors and lenses, than ever before. This approach has made them one of the top players in this industry. Not long ago, they launched a new series of thermal monoculars called Falcon. These boast a design we have not seen before.
Exterior of Hikmicro Falcon
Hikmicro has not exactly been known for the most daring of designs. Their monoculars have not been much different from those of other Chinese manufacturers as far as the exterior is concerned. With Falcon, they started a new chapter. Looking at Falcon’s elegant exterior, one can tell that Hikmicro invested quite some time in designing it. They are made of magnesium instead of plastic which is a huge step forward. They finally replaced the integrated battery with a removable one. The focusing ring is right behind the objective and the diopter ring is in front of the eyepiece. The buttons are at the top of the housing; both right- and left-handed people can use the device without struggling. Falcon is waterproof – you do not have to worry if you are caught in a downpour.

Devices in the Hikmicro Falcon series
Four models are currently (November 2022) available in the series: FH25, FH35, FQ35 and FQ50. The differences can be seen in the table below.
Device | Falcon FH25 | Falcon FH35 | Falcon FQ35 | Falcon FQ50 |
Lens diamter | 25 mm | 35 mm | 35 mm | 50 mm |
Sensor resolution | 384 x 288 pixels | 384 x 288 pixels | 640 x 512 pixels | 640 x 512 pixels |
Detection range | 1200 m | 1800 m | 1800 m | 2600 m |
Aperture | F1.0 | F1.0 | F0.9 | F0.9 |
Base magnification | 2.17x | 3.03x | 1.82x | 2.6x |
Weight | 500 g | 505 g | 505 g | 636 g |
Price | 1750 € | 2019 € | 2699 € | 3099 € |
All the series’ devices can detect minimal temperature differences, which is best observed in adverse weather conditions – The NETD of the sensor is <20 mK. The display is of the OLED type with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

Advanced functions of Hikmicro Falcon
The users can capture images and record videos; they are saved in the device’s internal storage with a capacity of 64 GB. Falcon can be connected to a smartphone that has the Hikmicro Sight application installed. In the app, the users can browse through the images and videos, adjust certain characteristics, update the device, etc. ‘Hot Track’ is another useful function that can be activated in the menu of the device. It works by projecting a reticle in place of the warmest object on the display.

Conclusion
With Falcon, Hikmicro has proven that they are in touch with the most advanced solutions in the field of thermal imaging. These devices convince with an incredible sensor, a magnesium housing, and a removable battery. They are covered by a 3-year warranty period.
