Nikko Stirling Ultimax 3-12x56

• 56 mm objective lens: The large front lens gathers more light at dawn, dusk and in shaded woodland, helping the image stay bright when game is most active.
• 3-12x magnification range: This zoom span covers short-to-medium stalking distances and more deliberate shots across open ground, so one hunting riflescope can handle varied terrain.
• 4A illuminated SFP reticle: The fine illuminated center helps place shots precisely in poor light, while the second focal plane layout keeps the reticle appearance familiar throughout the zoom range.
• 30 mm nitrogen-filled tube: The larger maintube supports a robust hunting optic design, and the nitrogen filling helps prevent internal fogging during temperature changes.
• Capped 1/4 MOA turrets: Low-profile capped adjustments are well suited to field use because they protect zero from accidental movement while still allowing precise sight corrections.

About the Nikko Stirling Ultimax Series

The Nikko Stirling Ultimax series is positioned as a top-end hunting riflescope range within the brand’s lineup, built for shooters who want Japanese-made construction and practical low-light performance in a traditional hunting format. The series is made in Japan and uses 30 mm maintubes across the range, giving the family a consistent mechanical platform for hunting rifles and general sporting use.

Ultimax models are designed around the needs of hunters rather than target-style complexity. The range includes 1-6x24, 2.5-10x50 and 3-12x56 configurations, covering driven hunting, general stalking and lower-light evening use. Across the series, Nikko Stirling specifies waterproof, shockproof and nitrogen-filled construction with multicoated lenses, reflecting a design focus on dependable field use in changing weather. A key distinguishing feature is the series’ fiber-optic illumination system, which produces a sharp red illuminated center dot intended to remain visible in bright conditions while still offering restrained settings for low-light shooting. In practical terms, the Ultimax line combines classic hunting scope proportions with strong image brightness, straightforward controls and reticle layouts that stay fast to read under pressure.

About the Nikko Stirling Ultimax 3-12x56

The Nikko Stirling Ultimax 3-12x56 is the low-light specialist of the Ultimax hunting riflescope family. Its 3-12x magnification range gives it a broad working envelope: 3x remains manageable for closer woodland shots and moving game at moderate distance, while 12x provides the precision needed for more careful shot placement across fields, clearings and high seats. Paired with a 56 mm objective lens, this configuration is especially well suited to dawn and dusk hunting, where image brightness and a calm sight picture matter more than extreme magnification.

The scope uses a 4A illuminated reticle in the second focal plane, so the reticle size stays constant as magnification changes. That makes the sight picture easy to interpret at any setting, which is useful when a hunter needs to zoom up or down quickly without the reticle becoming visually too fine or too bold. The red illumination is intended to draw the eye to the center aiming point in dim backgrounds, but without turning the reticle into a distraction.

Mechanically, the Ultimax 3-12x56 stays true to a practical hunting format. Its capped turrets protect the 1/4 MOA adjustments from accidental movement during transport and field carry, while the 30 mm tube, nitrogen filling, waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction support reliable use in wet weather, changing temperatures and normal recoil. With a field of view from 11.90 m/100m down to 3.30 m/100m and eye relief from 95.00 mm to 75.00 mm, it balances situational awareness with the precision expected from a classic hunting optic.

About Nikko Stirling

Nikko Stirling traces its beginnings to 1956, when it was established by Malcolm John Fuller. The brand focuses on sport optics for hunters and marksmen, with a product range that extends across riflescopes, reflex sights, laser rangefinders and binoculars. Within riflescopes, its families include Diamond Hunting, Diamond FFP, Metor, Panamax, Airking and Mountmaster, showing a broad spread from traditional hunting optics to more specialized shooting formats.

Beyond riflescopes, Nikko Stirling also offers reflex sights such as the PRO-T5, PRO-T4 and XT4, along with NSLRF laser rangefinders and Metor HD binoculars. That breadth is relevant here because it shows the company’s long-standing concentration on field and shooting optics rather than general outdoor gear. In practical terms, Nikko Stirling has built its reputation around straightforward optical designs, hunting-oriented reticles and durable construction suited to regular sporting use.
