Leupold BX-5 Santiam HD 10x50

• 10x50 configuration: The combination of 10x magnification and a 50 mm objective gives this binocular the reach needed for long-distance glassing while maintaining a bright, steady image for dawn and dusk hunting.
• Twilight Max HD light management: Leupold’s low-light focused optical system improves contrast and controls glare, helping pick out animals, terrain detail, and shadowed movement when light is fading.
• Open-bridge roof prism design: The open-bridge body is easier to hold securely with one hand and feels balanced during long sessions behind the glass, especially when scanning from ridgelines or blinds.
• Long eye relief: With 19.30 mm of eye relief, the BX-5 Santiam HD 10x50 remains comfortable for eyeglass wearers and easier to settle behind quickly when a brief viewing opportunity appears.
• Waterproof, fogproof construction: Argon filling and sealed construction keep the binocular usable through rain, cold mornings, and rapid temperature changes, reducing the risk of internal fogging in the field.

About the Leupold BX-5 Santiam Series

The Leupold BX-5 Santiam series sits in the brand’s upper hunting-binocular range and is built for users who spend long periods glassing for game at distance. The line was expanded with 8x42 and 10x42 models in 2018, and the family now covers several configurations including 8x42, 10x42, 10x50, 12x50, and 15x56, giving hunters options from all-round use to more specialized long-range observation. Across the series, Leupold positions the optics around its Professional-Grade optical system and the Twilight Max HD light-management system, with an emphasis on useful contrast and low-light visibility rather than headline magnification alone.

The series is also defined by a practical field design. Open-bridge construction improves handling during extended use, while Guard-ion hydrophobic lens coating helps shed water and makes the exterior lenses easier to keep clear in wet weather. In use, BX-5 Santiam HD binoculars are aimed squarely at hunters who need a roof-prism binocular that balances portability, brightness, and long-session comfort for scanning open country, timber edges, and distant slopes.

About the Leupold BX-5 Santiam HD 10x50

The Leupold BX-5 Santiam HD 10x50 is the configuration in the series that leans toward brighter low-light performance without moving into the bulk of the 15x56 class. Its 10x magnification is a proven all-round choice for hunting binoculars because it offers enough image scale for judging animals at distance while remaining manageable for handheld use. Paired with a 50.00 mm objective lens and a 5.00 mm exit pupil, it delivers a brighter, more relaxed view than a smaller objective can provide in the first and last light periods when game is often most active.

The optical layout uses a Roof - Schmidt/Pechan prism design, which keeps the binocular compact enough for field carry while preserving the straight-barrel shape many hunters prefer. A Fully Multicoated lens system supports contrast and transmission, and the 101.50 m/1000m field of view gives enough width for scanning terrain methodically without feeling overly narrow for a 10x binocular. The 19.30 mm eye relief is especially useful for eyeglass wearers, while the central focusing system allows fast, intuitive adjustment when shifting from near cover to distant ridges.

Mechanically, the binocular is built around an open-bridge body that improves grip security and reduces hand fatigue during long glassing sessions. At 895.00 g and 173.00 mm in length, it has the substance expected of a 10x50 hunting binocular without becoming cumbersome. Argon filling, waterproofing, and fogproof construction make it well suited to wet weather, cold mornings, and changing elevations where internal fogging can quickly ruin an otherwise productive outing.

About Leupold

Leupold & Volpel was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1907 by Fred Leupold and Adam Volpel. The company developed into a specialist in sport optics for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use, with product lines that include riflescopes, red dot sights, binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, and thermal optics. Leupold introduced its first riflescope, the Plainsman, in 1947, and later introduced the Duplex reticle in 1962, a design that became widely recognized in sporting optics.

Today, Leupold & Stevens, Inc. is headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon and remains family-owned. Its reputation in the optics market is closely tied to durable field products and a lineup that spans hunting and tactical applications, including the VX-series and Mark-series riflescopes. That background carries directly into its binoculars, which are designed with the same emphasis on practical optical performance, reliability, and field-ready construction.
