Crimson Trace Hardline 4-16x42

• 4-16x magnification range: Covers the gap between medium-range hunting and deliberate target work, giving the shooter enough low-end field awareness at 4x and the precision to place shots more carefully at 16x.
• 42 mm objective with fully multi-coated lenses: Helps maintain a bright, clear sight picture and useful contrast, which matters when picking detail out of shaded woodland, dark targets, or mixed light.
• Second focal plane MR1-MOA reticle: Keeps the reticle visually consistent through the zoom range, so the aiming pattern stays easy to see at low power and uncluttered at higher magnification.
• Side parallax adjustment: Lets the shooter fine-tune the image and reticle focus for distance, reducing aiming error and making small targets easier to resolve from supported positions.
• 1-inch aerospace aluminum tube: Combines lower weight with practical field durability, while the nitrogen-purged, waterproof construction supports reliable use in changing weather and temperature conditions.

About the Crimson Trace Hardline Series

The Crimson Trace Hardline series is built as a line of riflescopes for tactical and target shooters, with configurations that also suit practical hunting use where repeatable adjustments and a straightforward sight picture matter. The family spans magnification ranges from 1-6x through 4-16x, giving the series a broad role from close-range carbines to rifles set up for longer shots across open ground. Across the line, Crimson Trace uses second-focal-plane reticles, fully multi-coated optics, nitrogen purging, and waterproof construction, creating a consistent design approach focused on dependable field use rather than unnecessary complexity.

Hardline models are offered with both 1-inch and 30 mm tubes, so the series covers lighter sporting setups as well as rifles that benefit from a more tactical layout. Reticle choices include BDC, MR1-MIL, MR1-MOA, and Mildot patterns, allowing the shooter to choose between holdover-oriented hunting reticles and more measurement-based aiming systems for target work. That combination makes the Hardline family a practical middle ground in the Crimson Trace lineup: robust enough for regular range use, simple enough for field rifles, and varied enough to match different shooting styles without changing to a completely different optic platform.

About the Crimson Trace Hardline 4-16x42

The Crimson Trace Hardline 4-16x42 is a variable-power riflescope aimed at shooters who need one optic for stalking, stand hunting, and general-purpose precision work. Its 4-16x magnification range gives it more reach than a typical woodland scope, while the 42.00 mm objective keeps the overall size manageable on a hunting or crossover rifle. At lower magnification it remains usable for scanning and shot placement at moderate distance; at the top end it gives the extra image scale needed for smaller targets and more careful hold placement.

This model uses a second focal plane reticle, which keeps the reticle the same apparent size as magnification changes. In practice, that makes the aiming point easier to pick up quickly at lower power and prevents the reticle from becoming visually heavy when zoomed in. The scope is non-illuminated, a sensible configuration for shooters who prefer a simpler optic with no brightness controls to manage in daylight use. Side-focus parallax adjustment adds a useful precision feature, helping sharpen the target image and reduce apparent reticle shift as distances change.

Mechanically, the scope balances field portability with enough adjustment for practical zeroing and correction. It offers 45.00 MOA / 13.00 mrad of elevation and the same windage range, with a 1/4 MOA click value and exposed turrets for direct adjustment. The 1-inch tube, nitrogen filling, waterproof and shockproof construction, and 535.00 g weight make it well suited to rifles that are carried regularly but still expected to hold zero through rough handling and changing weather.

About Crimson Trace

Crimson Trace was established in 1994 and built its name around aiming and illumination products for firearms. The company is especially known for laser sight families such as Lasergrips, Laserguard, and Rail Master, along with the Lightguard line of firearm-mounted lights. A defining part of the brand’s design approach is Instinctive Activation, which uses pressure-pad placement that works with a normal firing grip rather than adding extra steps under stress.

Alongside lasers and lights, Crimson Trace also produces riflescopes and rangefinders, extending the brand into sporting and tactical optics. The company operates a facility in Columbia, Missouri, United States, and its product range reflects a practical focus on firearm-mounted equipment that supports faster aiming, clearer target engagement, and straightforward operation in the field.
