Recknagel Two-Piece Base for 16mm Dovetail Mount for Merkel SR1 Basic

• Two-piece 16 mm dovetail interface: This base set creates the correct platform for tip-off mounts on a Merkel SR1 Basic, giving a secure fit without adding unnecessary bulk to the rifle.
• Low 3.50 mm base height: The low front base height helps keep the optic close to the bore, which supports a more natural cheek weld and a more consistent shooting position.
• Black anodized aluminium construction: Aluminium keeps weight down while the anodized finish adds surface protection against wear and weather in regular hunting use.
• Model-specific receiver fit: Separate front and rear bases are matched to the rifle platform, which matters for correct alignment and dependable mounting stability.
• 0 MOA inclination: A level base is a practical choice for general hunting rifles, keeping the setup straightforward for conventional zeroing and everyday field distances.

About the Recknagel Dovetail Bases Series

Recknagel Dovetail Bases are built as a dedicated mounting platform for rifles that use a 16 mm dovetail prism. In the Recknagel lineup, this series sits as a practical fixed-base solution for hunting and sporting firearms that need a clean, rifle-specific interface for tip-off scope mounts. Rather than using a universal rail, the system relies on separate front and rear bases shaped for particular receiver patterns, which helps maintain proper fit and alignment.

The series follows a straightforward mechanical concept: a compact base profile, a secure dovetail geometry, and model-matched dimensions that support stable optic installation without unnecessary height. The catalog design uses a 30-degree dovetail profile, and the front bases in this family are listed with a 3.5 mm base height, while rear-base dimensions vary by rifle model. That makes the series especially relevant for hunters who want a neat, low-slung mounting arrangement on classic European sporting rifles. Across the range, the emphasis is on durable construction, dependable fit, and compatibility with Recknagel’s 16 mm dovetail mounting solutions.

About the Recknagel Two-Piece Base for 16mm Dovetail Mount for Merkel SR1 Basic

This Recknagel two-piece base is configured specifically for the Merkel SR1 Basic and serves as the lower interface for a 16 mm dovetail scope-mount setup. Its purpose is simple but important: it gives the rifle a properly matched foundation for mounting optics securely, with the alignment and fit expected from a model-specific base rather than a generic adapter. For a hunting rifle, that matters because the base is the starting point for repeatable optic positioning and stable performance in the field.

The design uses black anodized aluminium, which keeps the assembly light while still offering the rigidity needed for everyday sporting use. That lighter construction helps preserve the handling of the rifle, especially on a setup intended to be carried over longer periods. The 3.50 mm BH height at the front contributes to a low mounting position, which can improve head position behind the scope and make the rifle feel more natural when brought quickly to the shoulder.

With 0 MOA inclination, this base is aimed at conventional hunting applications rather than specialized long-range correction. The two-piece layout also leaves the action area visually open compared with a full-length rail, which suits traditional hunting-rifle styling and keeps the installation compact. For shooters building a clean, low-profile hunting optics setup on the Merkel SR1 Basic, this base provides the correct platform for Recknagel 16 mm dovetail mounts.

About Recknagel

Recknagel is a German maker of firearm accessories whose history began in 1867, when Adolf Recknagel started manufacturing firearm sights in Albrechts near Suhl, Thuringia. The company is known for its focus on mounting systems, sights, and hunting accessories, with a product range that also includes rails, triggers, safeties, and silencers. That long specialization in the interface between rifle and optic is what makes the brand especially relevant in the scope-mount category.

Over time, Recknagel expanded from traditional hunting products into more specialized segments. The company introduced the ERATAC line in 2010 for tactical mounts and accessories, and later added lightweight hunting silencers in 2016. Recknagel relocated from Schweinfurt to Bergrheinfeld in 2006, and in 2022 the company was acquired by Dr. Moritz Fehrer. Across its product lines, the brand is associated with German-made mounting solutions designed for precise fit and dependable mechanical performance.
