Pachmayr DP500 Ultra Lite Field Pad

• Thin recoil pad profile: The .500" thickness keeps the stock trim and fast to shoulder, making it a practical choice for field rifles and shotguns that need recoil reduction without adding bulk.
• Decelerator rubber construction: Pachmayr’s ultra-soft rubber technology helps soften felt recoil, which can make repeated shots more comfortable and reduce fatigue during longer sessions.
• Basket weave face texture: The basket weave surface gives the pad controlled contact against clothing, helping the gun mount smoothly while still staying planted once in the shoulder.
• Grind-to-fit design: This pad is made to be ground to fit the stock contours, allowing a cleaner installation and a more tailored fit on compatible rifle or shotgun stocks.
• Field-oriented shape: The classic field design is intended for light to medium recoiling firearms, balancing quick handling with practical recoil control for hunting and general shooting use.

About the Pachmayr Accessories Series

Pachmayr Accessories covers a broad range of shooting components built around practical handling improvements for rifles, shotguns, handguns, and revolvers. The series includes recoil pads, rifle grips, and handgun grips, giving shooters options for better control, improved comfort, and a more secure interface with the firearm. Within the Pachmayr range, these accessories are aimed at users who want proven, functional upgrades rather than cosmetic add-ons.

A key part of the series is Pachmayr’s long-standing work in recoil pad design. The company introduced its first recoil pad in 1949, and that heritage still shapes the current lineup. In practical terms, the series focuses on materials and shapes that help manage recoil, improve mounting consistency, and hold up to regular field use. Alongside recoil pads, the wider accessories family also includes modern grip options in rubber, laminate, and G10-based designs, reflecting Pachmayr’s emphasis on durable materials and firearm-specific fit.

About the Pachmayr DP500 Ultra Lite Field Pad

The Pachmayr DP500 Ultra Lite Field Pad is a slim recoil pad made for shooters who want a softer shooting rifle or shotgun without changing the handling of the gun more than necessary. Its defining feature is the .500" thin profile, which keeps length increase to a minimum and helps the firearm remain quick to mount in the field. That makes it especially suitable for hunting guns and other light, fast-handling setups where a thick pad would feel out of place.

This model uses Decelerator ultra-soft rubber technology, a material choice intended to take the edge off recoil while preserving a relatively compact pad shape. In practice, that means more comfort on light to medium recoiling rifles and shotguns, especially for shooters who want recoil reduction but still prefer a traditional stock feel. The basket weave face texture also matters in use: it offers a controlled shoulder contact surface that supports a smooth mount while helping the butt stay settled once the gun is in position.

The DP500 is built as a grind-to-fit pad, so it can be shaped to match the stock contours for a cleaner, more integrated installation. Its field-style form reflects its intended role: practical recoil management, tidy lines, and dependable handling on sporting firearms rather than a bulky target-style setup. For shooters fitting out a rifle or shotgun for regular field use, the DP500 keeps the focus on comfort, speed, and a traditional profile.

About Pachmayr

Pachmayr was founded by Frank Pachmayr in 1929 and became known for firearm accessories that improve handling, comfort, and serviceability. The brand’s product range includes handgun grips, recoil pads, and gunsmithing tools, with a long-standing presence in both sporting and defensive shooting categories. Pachmayr introduced its first recoil pad in 1949, and recoil-reducing products using Decelerator material remain one of the company’s best-known specialties.

Over time, Pachmayr also built a strong reputation in handgun grips, including rubber, laminate, and G10-based designs for a wide variety of revolvers and pistols. The brand joined Lyman in 1996, linking it with one of the established names in shooting equipment. Pachmayr’s history in practical firearm accessories is closely tied to products that solve real use problems, especially recoil control, grip security, and fit.
