Minox X-Tour 8x42 Product description

  • ED lens system: ED glass helps reduce color fringing and keeps fine detail cleaner, which makes it easier to separate plumage, fur texture, and branches in high-contrast daylight conditions.
  • 8x42 configuration: The combination of 8x magnification and a 42 mm objective gives a steady image with a generous 5.25 mm exit pupil, balancing reach, brightness, and ease of viewing for long observation sessions.
  • Magnesium housing: A magnesium body keeps weight under control while maintaining the rigidity needed for regular field use, so the binocular remains practical to carry without feeling fragile.
  • IPX7 waterproof and nitrogen-purged: The sealed, fogproof construction supports reliable use in rain, cold mornings, and changing temperatures, helping the optics stay clear when conditions turn difficult.
  • Wide field of view: With 129.00 m/1000m of field of view, the binocular is easier to use for scanning woodland edges, following moving birds, and picking up subjects quickly before increasing attention on detail.

About the Minox X-TOUR Series

The Minox X-TOUR series sits in the brand’s current binocular range as a practical line for nature observation and birdwatching, while also fitting hunting use such as stalking and observation from cover. Across the series, MINOX combines a compact format with features that matter in real field conditions rather than bench use alone. All models use ED lenses and a magnesium housing, a combination aimed at delivering cleaner color correction and lower carry weight without giving up structural strength.

The range includes six variants, pairing 8x or 10x magnification with 26 mm, 34 mm, or 42 mm objective lenses, so users can choose between maximum portability and stronger low-light performance. MINOX describes the image character as high-contrast, vivid, and sharp, which suits users who need fast subject recognition in mixed terrain. The series is also nitrogen-purged and IPX7 waterproof, giving it the weather resistance expected from binoculars that may spend long hours outdoors in damp cover, on trails, or in changing temperatures.

About the Minox X-Tour 8x42

The Minox X-Tour 8x42 is the largest 8x model in the series, built for users who want a steadier image and stronger low-light behavior than a compact binocular can usually provide. Its 8x magnification is easy to hold for extended viewing and well suited to birdwatching, general wildlife observation, and hunting situations where rapid target acquisition matters as much as detail. Paired with a 42.00 mm objective lens, it produces a 5.25 mm exit pupil, which helps the image remain comfortable and bright in overcast woodland, at dawn, or late in the day.

The optical layout also supports efficient scanning. A 129.00 m/1000m field of view gives the user enough width to track movement across hedgerows, treelines, and open ground without feeling overly restricted. The stated light transmission of ≥85 (Day) / ≥80 (Night) underlines that this model is designed to stay useful beyond bright midday conditions. The central focusing system keeps operation simple and quick when shifting between distances, while the diopter adjustment of +/- 5 and adjustment on both eyepieces help tailor the view to the user’s eyesight.

Mechanically, the binocular is built for regular outdoor use. The magnesium housing keeps the weight at 685.00 g, a sensible figure for a full-size field binocular, while nitrogen filling, fogproof construction, and an IPX-7 waterproof rating support dependable use in wet weather and changing temperatures. For users who want one binocular that covers birding, nature observation, and general field use with a stable image and full-size objective, this configuration is the most versatile X-TOUR option.

About Minox

MINOX GmbH was founded in Wetzlar, Germany, in 1945, building on the work of engineer Walter Zapp, who designed the first MINOX miniature-camera prototype in 1936. Although the company became widely known for compact cameras, it later expanded its focus and entered the sport-optics market in the 1990s. That move established MINOX as a maker of binoculars, spotting scopes, riflescopes, night-vision devices, and wildlife cameras.

MINOX became an independent company after separating from Leica Camera AG in 2005, and it joined the Blaser Group in 2013. The company relocated to Isny, Germany, on February 1, 2020. In hunting and sport optics, MINOX is especially known for combining practical field design with a strong optical tradition, and product families such as the ZP riflescope series helped strengthen its reputation in this segment.
