Leica Fortis Glossy 1-6x24i

• 1-6x zoom range: True 1x gives fast, both-eyes-open target acquisition at short distance, while 6x adds enough reach and detail for precise shot placement when the terrain opens up.
• Wide 44.00 m/100m field of view: The broad sight picture helps track moving game more naturally during driven hunts and makes it easier to stay aware of what is happening around the target.
• Illuminated SFP reticle: The red illuminated aiming point remains easy to pick up against dark backgrounds, while the second focal plane layout keeps the reticle appearance consistent through the zoom range.
• 92 light transmission with AquaDura coatings: High transmission supports a bright image in poor light, and the water-repellent coating helps keep the view clearer in rain, snow, and damp hunting conditions.
• Glossy steel-rifle styling: The hand-polished glossy finish suits classic hunting rifles, giving this model the handling and optical format of a modern driven-hunt scope without losing a traditional visual character.

About the Leica Fortis 6 Series

Leica Fortis 6 is a hunting riflescope family built around a 6x zoom system and designed to cover the practical needs of hunters who move between driven hunts, stalking, and high-seat use. Introduced with the 1-6x24i and 2-12x50i models, the series has grown into a line that gives hunters several optical formats while keeping the same basic design philosophy: clean lines, robust construction, and straightforward operation in the field.

Across the range, illuminated reticles are a defining feature, with the series commonly associated with Leica’s L-4a reticle. The Fortis 6 concept focuses on practical hunting use rather than complex controls, so the scopes are built to be quick to understand and easy to trust under pressure. Depending on model, the series spans compact driven-hunt optics through larger low-light configurations for more deliberate shooting. Selected versions are also available with bullet-drop-compensation adjustment, giving the lineup broader appeal for hunters who want either a simple traditional setup or more dialing capability. In Leica’s sport optics range, Fortis 6 sits as a modern premium hunting series that combines strong optical performance with restrained, functional design.

About the Leica Fortis Glossy 1-6x24i

The Leica Fortis Glossy 1-6x24i is a compact driven-hunt riflescope built for fast shooting at short to medium distances, especially on classic hunting rifles where a polished finish looks at home. Its 1.00-6.00 x magnification makes it highly versatile in dense woodland, on moving game, and in mixed terrain where a hunter may need to switch quickly from instinctive close-range aiming to a more precise hold. At 1x, the scope supports rapid target acquisition and natural handling; at 6x, it gives enough image scale for more careful shot placement when the opportunity stretches out.

The optical layout is tuned for speed. A 44.00 m/100m field of view at low magnification helps keep moving animals in sight, while the 90.00 mm eye relief gives comfortable head position and useful recoil clearance. The second focal plane reticle keeps the reticle size visually constant as magnification changes, which many hunters prefer for a familiar sight picture. Red illumination improves reticle visibility against dark fur, shaded forest edges, or low-contrast backgrounds without making the image feel busy.

Mechanically, this model stays simple and field-oriented. Capped turrets protect the settings from accidental movement during transport and rough handling, which suits a riflescope intended to be carried often and adjusted rarely. The fixed parallax at 100 m keeps operation uncomplicated, while the 30 mm tube, nitrogen filling, waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction support dependable use in changing weather. Leica’s AquaDura coating adds another practical advantage by helping moisture and dirt clear more easily from the outer lens surfaces.

About Leica

Leica Camera AG traces its history to 1869, when Ernst Leitz took over Carl Kellner’s Optical Institute in Wetzlar. The company remains headquartered in Wetzlar, Germany, and is known for precision optics across cameras, lenses, and sport optics. Within hunting and observation equipment, Leica Sport Optics covers binoculars, spotting scopes, riflescopes, and rangefinders, reflecting a long-standing focus on optical quality and mechanical precision.

Leica’s background in this field is well established. The company’s first binoculars were launched in 1907, and the Trinovid line entered production in 1958. In 1992, Leica introduced the Geovid, the first binoculars with an integrated rangefinder, combining optical viewing with laser distance measurement in one device. That history matters in a riflescope such as the Fortis Glossy 1-6x24i because it places the product within a manufacturer known for practical hunting optics shaped by long experience in image quality, low-light performance, and durable field use.
