Kaps Sun Shade 50mm

• Scattered-Light Control: The 50 mm sun shade helps reduce stray light from low or angled sun, which supports a clearer sight picture and more consistent contrast when shooting in bright conditions.
• Built for Tactical-Series Scopes: Designed for Kaps Tactical riflescopes, it matches the intended platform properly and adds glare protection without changing the basic handling of the optic.
• Standalone or Combined Use: The sun shade can be used on its own or together with the Kaps honeycomb grid, giving shooters flexibility to tailor the front end of the scope to light and reflection conditions.
• Aluminium Construction: The aluminium body keeps weight low at 50.00 g while providing the rigidity expected from a riflescope accessory used in regular field or range use.
• Made in Germany: German manufacture and a simple, purpose-built design make this accessory a practical choice for shooters who want a clean mechanical solution rather than a bulky add-on.

About the Kaps Accesories Series

Kaps Accesories are built as dedicated add-ons for the company’s riflescope range, with a clear focus on solving practical sighting problems rather than adding unnecessary complexity. Within this accessory family, Kaps includes items such as the honeycomb grid and sun shade, both intended to improve scope usability in difficult light. The series is aimed at shooters who use Kaps Tactical optics for hunting, sport shooting, or range work and want to adapt the objective end of the scope to changing conditions.

A defining trait of the series is its straightforward function. The sun shade is intended to reduce scattered light caused by sunlight, while the honeycomb grid is described as reducing reflections from sunlight and rainwater on the lens without negatively affecting optical performance. Kaps also notes that these accessories can be used together, which gives the series a modular character. Offered in 50 and 56 variants, the line is shaped around the dimensions of Tactical-series riflescopes and keeps the emphasis on practical optical control, lens protection, and easier aiming in the field.

About the Kaps Sun Shade 50mm

The Kaps Sun Shade 50mm is a dedicated riflescope accessory for shooters who want to manage glare at the objective end of a Kaps Tactical scope. Its main job is simple but important: it helps limit scattered light caused by direct or angled sunlight before that light reaches the front lens. In practice, that can make the sight picture easier to read when the sun is low, when targets are backlit, or when the firing position forces the optic toward bright sky or reflective terrain.

Because this is the 50 mm version, it is intended for Tactical-series scopes built around that front objective size. The benefit of a dedicated fit is that the accessory remains compact and proportionate to the optic rather than adding unnecessary bulk. The aluminium construction keeps the unit light at 50.00 g, so it adds useful glare protection without noticeably changing the balance of the rifle or making the scope feel front-heavy during supported or unsupported shooting.

Kaps also allows the sun shade to be used either by itself or together with the brand’s honeycomb grid. That gives the shooter a practical choice: use the shade alone when the main issue is direct sunlight, or combine both accessories when reflections and lens exposure need tighter control. Finished in black and made in Germany, this accessory follows a functional design approach that suits tactical optics and straightforward field use.

About Kaps

Karl Kaps GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1946 and is based in Aßlar, Germany, near Wetzlar, a region long associated with optical manufacturing. The company added riflescopes to its product range in 1955 and has since focused on developing and producing optics for hunting and sport shooting.

Its lineup includes the TLB, Classic Line, and Tactical riflescope families, alongside binoculars for hunting and sporting use. Kaps is known for building traditional optical products with practical field-oriented configurations, including illuminated and non-illuminated reticle options. In its riflescope range, the company uses first focal plane reticles, reflecting a design approach that prioritizes consistent reticle scaling for shooting applications where hold values matter. This background makes Kaps a natural fit for purpose-built riflescope accessories such as the Sun Shade 50mm.
