Hawke Frontier 30 4-20x50 SF FFP Product description

  • First Focal Plane Reticle (FFP Mil Pro or MOA Hunter): The reticle is positioned in the first focal plane and scales proportionally with magnification, keeping all subtension values accurate throughout the entire 4–20× zoom range. Holdovers, ranging, and wind corrections can be applied at any magnification setting without recalculation — a practical advantage in hunting and field shooting where the shooter rarely has time to adjust for magnification before taking a shot.
  • Patented Zero Lock 'N' Stop Elevation Turret: The exposed elevation turret incorporates a physical zero stop that prevents rotation below the shooter's set zero. After dialling for a long-range shot, the turret can be returned to zero simply by rotating it clockwise until it stops — with no need to count clicks or track the number of revolutions made.
  • 30mm Mono-Tube Chassis: The precision-machined 30mm aluminium mono-tube offers a good balance between adjustment range and compact dimensions. 23 MRAD (or 79 MOA) of both elevation and windage travel gives the shooter substantial mechanical flexibility, while the standard 30mm tube diameter ensures broad compatibility with widely available ring mounts.
  • H7 Optical System with 21-Layer Fully Multi-Coated Lenses: High-grade, low-dispersion crown glass combined with 21-layer fully multi-coated lenses delivers high light transmission, strong contrast, and a sharp image across the full magnification range. The 50mm objective lens provides an exit pupil of 12.5 mm at minimum magnification, supporting a bright image in low-light field conditions.
  • Wide Field of View for Field Use: At minimum magnification, the scope provides a field of view of 9.4 metres at 100 metres — broad enough for fast target acquisition during driven hunting or when engaging targets at shorter distances before adjusting magnification for more precise work at range.
  • Multi-LED Illuminated Reticle with 6 Brightness Levels: The reticle centre is illuminated in red across 6 intensity settings, with off positions between each level. The stepped rheostat control allows the shooter to select a brightness level appropriate for the ambient light conditions without overshooting to an unsuitable setting.
  • Side Focus Parallax Adjustment: The side-mounted parallax knob covers 14 metres to infinity, enabling precise parallax correction without changing the shooting position. This is particularly useful when switching between targets at different distances or when fine-tuning focus during extended sessions.
  • Compact Dimensions and Practical Weight: At 336 mm in length and 630 g, the Frontier 30 FFP 4-20x50 is notably lighter and more compact than the larger Frontier 34 variants, making it well suited to hunters who prioritise a manageable carry weight without sacrificing optical or mechanical performance.

About the Frontier 30 FFP Series

The Hawke Frontier 30 FFP series sits within the flagship Frontier range, built on the H7 optical system and a 30mm aluminium mono-tube chassis. The series targets hunters and precision shooters who require first focal plane reticle accuracy and a reliable zero stop turret system in a more compact and lighter package than the larger Frontier 34 variants.

All Frontier 30 FFP models are equipped with high-grade, low-dispersion crown glass and 21-layer fully multi-coated lenses, providing consistent image brightness and contrast across the magnification range. The optical specification is designed to perform reliably in the variable lighting conditions typical of hunting use, including the low-light periods around dawn and dusk that are often the most productive for game.

Like the rest of the Frontier range, the series features Hawke's patented Zero Lock 'N' Stop elevation turret system — exposed, locking, resettable, and fitted with a physical zero stop. The 30mm tube diameter ensures compatibility with a wide range of standard ring mounts, while still providing meaningful elevation and windage adjustment ranges suited to field and medium long-range use.

The Frontier 30 FFP series is available in three magnification configurations — 3-15x50, 4-20x50, and 5-25x56 — each offered in two reticle variants to match the shooter's preferred measurement system and intended application.

About the Model (Hawke Frontier 30 FFP 4-20x50)

The Hawke Frontier 30 FFP 4-20x50 is a first focal plane riflescope designed for hunters and field shooters who need a versatile, lightweight optic capable of handling both close-range driven hunting and longer-distance precision work from a single platform. The 4–20× magnification range delivers a 5× zoom ratio, with a field of view of 9.4 metres at 100 metres at minimum power — wide enough to pick up fast-moving targets quickly — and a 20× upper limit that provides adequate resolution for precise shot placement at extended hunting distances.

The 50mm objective lens, combined with the H7 optical system and 21-layer fully multi-coated lenses, provides high light transmission and a bright, detailed image across the magnification range. An exit pupil of 12.5 mm at 4× supports image brightness in low-light conditions during hunting at dawn or dusk, while the high-volume eyebox and 102 mm of eye relief allow comfortable use across different shooting positions and rifle platforms.

The scope is available in two reticle variants. The Mil Pro version (art. no. 10.18530) uses an MRAD-spaced reticle with holdover markings, paired with exposed turrets offering 0.1 MRAD click values and 23 MRAD of travel on both the elevation and windage axes. The MOA Hunter version (art. no. 10.18531) features an MOA-spaced hunting reticle with holdover markings, paired with ¼ MOA click-value turrets offering 79 MOA of travel on both axes. Both variants feature an illuminated reticle centre in red with 6 brightness levels and off positions between each step, controlled via a stepped rheostat.

The elevation turret on both variants uses Hawke's patented Zero Lock 'N' Stop system — exposed, locking, resettable, and equipped with a physical zero stop that prevents unintentional sub-zero rotation. The windage turret is also exposed and locking, but without a zero stop. Side-mounted parallax adjustment covers 14 metres to infinity. The locking fast-focus eyebell allows the dioptre setting to be secured once established, and a removable zoom throw lever is included as standard.

At 336 mm in length and 630 g, the Frontier 30 FFP 4-20x50 is the lightest and most compact model in the Frontier FFP range, making it a practical choice for hunters covering ground on foot. The hard-anodised aluminium mono-tube is sealed and nitrogen purged, providing waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance across all calibres and weather conditions.

About Hawke

Hawke Optics is a British optics brand registered in England and Wales, with products distributed across Europe, North America, and international markets. The company produces a broad range of optical products including riflescopes, airgun scopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, red dot sights, and laser rangefinders, covering applications from hunting and precision shooting to nature observation and marine use.

Hawke organises its riflescope lineup into distinct optical system tiers — from the entry-level H2 through H5 to the flagship H7 — with each tier reflecting the glass specification, coating technology, and mechanical feature level of the products within it. The Frontier series is built on the H7 system, representing the highest optical and mechanical specification in Hawke's current riflescope range.
