ABOUT THE ELEMENT OPTICS HELIX SERIES

The Element Optics Helix series consists of riflescopes designed for hunters and recreational shooters who require dependable mechanical performance, practical optical features, and durable construction. The series includes models intended for different shooting distances and applications, ranging from general-purpose hunting to precision shooting.

A key characteristic of the Helix family is its focus on reliable adjustment mechanisms and practical optical performance. Different models are available with various magnification ranges, objective lens diameters, reticle systems, and turret configurations, allowing shooters to select a riflescope that matches their intended use.

The Helix HD models incorporate high-density optical glass and advanced fully multi-coated lenses. These optical components are designed to improve image clarity, contrast, and colour reproduction, helping hunters distinguish targets and surrounding details in changing outdoor lighting conditions.

The series includes both first focal plane and second focal plane configurations. First focal plane models maintain consistent reticle subtensions throughout the magnification range, while second focal plane models retain a constant apparent reticle size. This allows shooters to choose between reticle designs suited to precision shooting or more traditional hunting applications.

Selected Helix models incorporate illuminated reticles, capped or exposed turrets, and different parallax adjustment systems. The riflescopes also feature robust construction and practical controls intended to remain accessible during regular field use.

With its combination of optical performance, mechanical reliability, and varied configurations, the Helix series provides solutions for hunters operating in woodland, open terrain, and other demanding outdoor environments.

ABOUT THE ELEMENT OPTICS HELIX HD COMPACT 1-8X24 SFP

The Element Optics Helix HD Compact 1-8x24 SFP is a low-power variable optic (LPVO) developed primarily for hunting at close to intermediate distances. Its 1-8x magnification range, wide field of view, and fibre-optic illuminated reticle make it particularly suitable for driven hunts, stalking, and other hunting situations where quick target acquisition is important.

At 1x magnification, the riflescope provides a wide field of view of 41 metres at 100 metres. This allows the shooter to observe a large area and acquire moving targets without unnecessary visual restriction. The low magnification is especially useful during driven hunts and in densely wooded terrain, where game may appear at short distances.

Increasing magnification to 8x narrows the field of view to 5.13 metres at 100 metres, allowing greater detail when observing and aiming at more distant targets. The 8x zoom system provides flexibility when transitioning between close-range and intermediate-distance shooting without changing optics.

The 24 mm objective lens is combined with a high-density optical system and advanced fully multi-coated lenses. These components support clear image reproduction and good contrast across the magnification range. The smaller objective diameter also contributes to the riflescope's compact profile, making it suitable for lightweight hunting rifle configurations.

The optical system provides an exit pupil ranging from 8.5 mm to 3 mm, depending on the selected magnification. At lower magnifications, the larger exit pupil allows more flexibility in eye positioning and provides a comfortable viewing experience. The constant 95 mm eye relief helps maintain a consistent shooting position throughout the zoom range.

A distinguishing feature of this model is the L4A second focal plane reticle. The reticle follows a traditional 4A-style layout, incorporating prominent outer aiming references and a fine central aiming area. This design allows rapid visual orientation while retaining a relatively unobstructed central field of view.

The reticle incorporates a fibre-optic illuminated central dot, providing a small but highly visible aiming point. Illumination is controlled through an 11-position rotary dial, with intermediate off positions allowing users to return quickly to their preferred brightness setting. The system is powered by a CR2032 battery.

Because the reticle is positioned in the second focal plane (SFP), its apparent size remains constant when magnification is changed. This provides a consistent aiming reference throughout the zoom range. The reticle subtensions are calibrated at 8x magnification, which should be considered when using the reticle for angular measurements.

The riflescope features capped elevation and windage turrets, protecting the adjustment mechanisms from accidental movement during hunting and transportation. Each adjustment click corresponds to 0.1 MRAD, equivalent to approximately 1 cm at 100 metres. The turrets provide 6 MRAD of adjustment per revolution, while the total elevation and windage adjustment ranges are both 40 MRAD.

After zeroing, the turret scales can be repositioned so that the zero markings align with the reference indicators. This allows the shooter to retain a clear reference for subsequent adjustments. The turret configuration is particularly suitable for hunters who prefer to establish a zero and rely primarily on the reticle rather than making frequent external turret adjustments.

The parallax is factory-set at 100 metres, eliminating the need for an additional parallax adjustment control. This simplifies handling and contributes to the streamlined design of the riflescope.

The 30 mm main tube provides a sturdy platform for the internal optical and adjustment mechanisms. The riflescope is designed to withstand normal hunting conditions, with weather-resistant and shockproof construction for regular outdoor use.

Measuring 284 mm in length and weighing 519 grams, the Helix HD Compact offers a practical balance between optical performance and manageable dimensions. Its compact construction helps reduce additional bulk on hunting rifles, while the removable magnification throw lever enables faster adjustment of the zoom ring, including when wearing gloves.

With its combination of 1-8x magnification, a wide field of view, HD optical glass, and an illuminated L4A reticle, the Element Optics Helix HD Compact 1-8x24 SFP is particularly well suited to hunters who need a versatile optic for rapidly changing shooting distances and dynamic hunting environments.
