Crimson Trace LG-496 Laserguard

• Instinctive Activation: The front activation pad turns the laser on as the pistol is gripped, so the aiming point is available without changing hand position or adding a separate step under stress.
• Slim trigger-guard fit: The Laserguard design mounts closely to the pistol’s trigger guard, preserving a compact profile that is easier to carry and less likely to snag on clothing or gear.
• Windage and elevation adjustment: User-adjustable alignment lets the laser be tuned to the pistol and ammunition setup, helping maintain a precise point of aim at practical defensive distances.
• 0.50 MOA dot size: The fine aiming point supports deliberate shot placement, giving a clearer reference than a larger dot when working on small targets or tighter groups.
• Polymer housing: The lightweight polymer body keeps added weight to a minimum while providing a durable exterior suited to everyday carry and regular range use.

About the Laserguard Series

Crimson Trace Laserguard models are compact, trigger-guard-mounted laser sights built for shooters who want a dedicated aiming aid without changing the handling of the handgun. Within the company’s laser-sight lineup, the series sits alongside Lasergrips and Rail Master units, but it is distinguished by its close-fitting frame-specific design and its emphasis on maintaining the pistol’s natural lines. That makes Laserguard units especially relevant for concealed-carry handguns, defensive pistols and everyday range use where bulk matters.

A defining feature of the series is Instinctive Activation, which places the control where it can be engaged with a normal firing grip rather than through a separate switch movement. In practical use, this keeps the laser immediately available while reducing extra hand motion during presentation. Laserguard sights are also designed for straightforward installation and user adjustment, with windage and elevation controls that allow the beam to be matched to the pistol’s point of impact. The result is a handgun laser system focused on fast access, compact carry and practical integration with specific pistol platforms.

About the Crimson Trace LG-496 Laserguard

The Crimson Trace LG-496 Laserguard is a red handgun laser sight made for Springfield Armory XD MOD.2 pistols, including Sub-Compact, Service and Tactical variants. Its main advantage is how closely it follows the shape of the trigger guard, giving the pistol a clean, low-profile installation that remains suitable for defensive carry. Because the unit is built from polymer and weighs only 0.1 lbs, it adds very little bulk or front-end weight to the handgun.

The sight uses Instinctive Activation with a front-located pressure pad, so the laser can be engaged as part of a normal firing grip. That matters on a defensive pistol because it keeps operation simple and consistent when speed is more important than fine motor control. The red laser is rated at 5.00 mW, 633.00 nm, with a 0.50 MOA dot, giving a clear aiming reference for close-range and indoor use where rapid target indexing is often the priority. Windage and elevation are adjustable, which allows the user to zero the beam to the pistol rather than accept a fixed factory setting.

Battery life is rated at 4.00 h, making the LG-496 suitable for regular carry and training use when paired with routine battery replacement. In practice, this model is best suited to shooters who want a dedicated laser sight that preserves the handling of the XD MOD.2 platform while adding a fast visual aiming reference in low light or unconventional shooting positions.
