Seek Thermal Reveal Product description

  • Wide 36° field of view: The broad viewing angle helps the Seek Thermal Reveal scan walls, ceilings, equipment and rooms quickly, which is especially useful for inspection work at short to medium distances.
  • 206x156 thermal sensor: Its microbolometer sensor captures clear thermal contrast for locating heat loss, moisture patterns and hot components without needing visible light.
  • Compact handheld format: At 177.00 g and just 83.00 mm long, the unit is easy to carry in a pocket or tool bag and simple to use one-handed during routine checks.
  • Up to 10.00 h battery life: Long runtime reduces interruptions during surveys, maintenance rounds or overnight use and makes the device practical for extended field sessions.
  • Waterproof and fogproof housing: The sealed construction supports dependable operation in damp, dirty or changing outdoor conditions where ordinary electronics are less comfortable to use.

About the Seek Thermal Reveal Series

The Seek Thermal Reveal series is a family of handheld thermal imagers introduced in October 2015 and later classified by Seek as a legacy series. Within Seek Thermal’s lineup, Reveal models sit as self-contained thermal cameras for users who want a dedicated handheld device rather than a phone-connected imager. The family includes the standard Reveal and the Reveal XR, both built around a 206 × 156 thermal sensor but aimed at slightly different tasks.

Seek positioned the series for practical field use, with the standard Reveal geared toward job-site inspection and the Reveal XR intended more for hunting, safety and security. Across the range, the emphasis is on straightforward thermal viewing in a compact body, combining a built-in screen with a rugged handheld format. Depending on version, Reveal units were also offered in standard 9 Hz models and FastFrame variants running at 15 Hz or higher, giving users a choice between basic observation and smoother motion handling. The Reveal family became known for making thermal imaging more portable and easier to integrate into everyday inspection and outdoor tasks.

About the Seek Thermal Reveal

The Seek Thermal Reveal is the wider-angle member of the Reveal family, built for close and mid-range thermal observation where fast area coverage matters more than maximum distance. Its 1.00 x magnification and 36.00 ° field of view make it well suited to building inspection, electrical checks, HVAC work and general situational awareness, because the user can scan a broad section of a room or work area without constantly repositioning the device. With a stated 150.00 m detection range, it also remains useful outdoors for locating heat sources around property, campsites or work sites.

The thermal core uses a 206x156 microbolometer with a 12.00 μm pixel pitch and 60.00 mK NETD. In practical terms, that combination gives the Reveal enough sensitivity to separate warmer and cooler surfaces clearly, helping users identify insulation gaps, overheated components or hidden temperature patterns that are difficult to see with the naked eye. The 240x320 display keeps the image easy to interpret in a compact handheld format, while automatic calibration supports consistent viewing without requiring constant manual adjustment.

Physically, the Reveal is designed as a simple all-in-one thermal monocular. Its 177.00 g weight and compact dimensions make it easy to carry for routine inspections, and the up to 10.00 h battery life supports longer sessions without frequent charging. Because the housing is waterproof and fogproof, the device remains practical for field use in damp weather, cold mornings and changing environments where a standard camera or phone is less convenient.

About Seek Thermal

Seek Thermal was founded in 2012 by Bill Parrish and Tim Fitzgibbons and is based in Santa Barbara, California. The company focuses on thermal imaging cameras and microbolometer detectors, giving it expertise not only in finished consumer devices but also in the sensor technology that drives them. That background is particularly relevant in handheld thermal products, where image quality, compact packaging and efficient power use depend heavily on the underlying detector design.

Beyond standalone cameras, Seek Thermal also developed OEM thermal camera cores for integration into other systems. Its product range has included smartphone-connected Compact models as well as handheld thermal cameras for outdoor recreation, public safety, security, and test and measurement. The founders had previously established Amber Engineering and Indigo Systems, linking the company to a longer history in infrared imaging. That combination of detector development and practical field products shaped Seek Thermal’s reputation for making thermal imaging accessible in compact, purpose-built devices.
