EGW T/C Contender Picatinny Rail Product description

  • One-piece Picatinny platform: gives the Thompson/Center receiver a full-length mounting surface for scopes, red dots, and other Picatinny-compatible optics, making ring placement and eye-relief setup much easier than with separate bases.
  • Aluminum construction: keeps the rail light while still providing the rigidity needed for a stable optic mount, so the rifle or muzzleloader gains versatility without unnecessary weight.
  • Matte black finish: reduces glare and blends cleanly with modern hunting and shooting setups, while also helping the rail stand up to regular field use.
  • Receiver-specific fit: designed for Thompson/Center Contender and related T/C platforms, which helps ensure proper alignment and a secure interface between the firearm and mounted optic.
  • Compact 139.00 mm length: provides useful mounting space without adding excessive bulk, keeping the setup streamlined for hunting optics and general field carry.

About the EGW Picatinny Rails Series

EGW Picatinny Rails are built around the idea of giving shooters a one-piece optic mounting platform that is simple, strong, and easy to configure for different firearms. Within EGW’s catalog, the series covers a wide range of receiver patterns and is aimed at shooters who want a more flexible alternative to traditional two-piece bases. That makes the family especially relevant for hunting rifles, single-shot platforms, and practical field setups where optic position matters.

A defining feature of the series is its machined aluminum construction and the characteristic center valley that helps trim weight while keeping the profile practical. In the broader family, EGW offers different elevation options and finish choices depending on the firearm pattern, but the common theme is a Picatinny interface that accepts a wide variety of rings and optic mounts. The result is a mounting system focused on secure fit, straightforward installation, and the freedom to position optics where they work best for the firearm and the shooter.

About the EGW T/C Contender Picatinny Rail

The EGW T/C Contender Picatinny Rail is a receiver-mounted base made for shooters who want to fit modern optics to compatible Thompson/Center platforms without being limited by older base patterns. By converting the top of the receiver to a Picatinny standard, it opens the door to a much wider choice of riflescope rings, red dot mounts, and optic positions. That is particularly useful on break-action hunting and target firearms, where proper eye relief and balance can vary significantly depending on barrel length, stock setup, and intended use.

Its aluminum body keeps the mount light, which suits compact single-shot and muzzleloader configurations that are often carried in the field. The matte black finish gives the rail a subdued appearance and helps it integrate neatly with practical hunting optics. At 139.00 mm in length, it provides enough rail space for flexible ring spacing while keeping the overall setup tidy. Because it is intended for the T/C Contender and several related Thompson/Center models, this rail is a sensible choice for shooters who want a stable, adaptable optic interface for hunting, load development, or general-purpose range use.

About EGW

Evolution Gun Works was founded by George Smith in 1991 and began as a gunsmithing shop in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The company is now based in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, where it designs and manufactures firearm parts and accessories in the United States. EGW is particularly well known for scope mounts and scope rings, but its catalog also covers 1911 parts, AR and rifle components, red dot mounts, and thread protectors.

That background is relevant here because EGW’s reputation comes from practical mounting solutions made for real firearm fitment rather than generic accessories. Its experience across rifles, pistols, and optic interfaces shows in products such as this Picatinny rail, where correct geometry, dependable machining, and straightforward function matter more than unnecessary complexity.

T7C Contender: I want to mount an Aimpoint 9000L. You do have a picatinny base https://www.optics-trade.eu/en/egw-t-c-contender-picatinny-rail.html that should fit without modification. Then I need rings, these seems fine: https://www.optics-trade.eu/en/contessa-picatinny-rings-30-mm.html BUT: What BH should I choose? I want them as low as possible, but the scope builds 5mm, the it seems I must add the thickness of the picatinny rail. Is this correct? If so: what BH shuld I choose?

by Rolf

Dear Rolf,

Thank you for your inquiry. We sincerely apologize for the delayed reply, which is a result of the increased demand for our services.

You can calculate the minimal BH height you need by using this simple formula: Take the outer diameter of your riflescope's objective, then subtract the tube's diameter, and then divide the result by 2. For example: If your riflescope’s outer objective’s diameter is 60 mm, and your tube diameter is 30 mm, you would subtract 30 from 60 and get 30. Then you would need to divide 30 by 2 to get 15, which would be the shortest BH height that you could choose (15 mm).

Additionally, if you have a Picatinny rail mounted on your rifle, then yes, you need/can subtract its height from the result we got in our example. This means (taking the example above into consideration again), if your Picatinny rail is 5 mm high, you would subtract 5 from 15 to get 10. This, then, would be the actual shortest BH height that you could choose.

We realize this can be a bit complicated at times, so if you will need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind regards.
