Bushnell Legend 4-12x40

• 4-12x magnification range: Covers the practical middle ground between close woodland shots and more deliberate holds at longer distances, so one riflescope can suit stalking, general hunting, and range work.
• Fully multi-coated optics: The coated lens system helps maintain image brightness and contrast, which makes target detail easier to read in the low, flat light common at dawn and dusk.
• Factory-set 100-yard parallax: With parallax fixed at a typical hunting distance, the scope stays simple and fast to use in the field without extra controls to adjust before taking a shot.
• Capped hunting turrets: The capped design protects the adjustments from knocks, brush, and accidental movement, which suits a rifle that is carried often and zeroed to stay put.
• Waterproof, fogproof, shockproof build: The sealed construction is made for changing weather, temperature shifts, and recoil, helping the scope remain dependable during regular hunting use.

About the Bushnell Legend Series

The Bushnell Legend series sits in Bushnell’s hunting optics range as a practical line of riflescopes built around fully multi-coated optics and a field-ready, weather-sealed design. The series is aimed at hunters who want a straightforward scope for common sporting rifles rather than a highly specialized long-range or tactical setup. Across documented models such as the 3-9x40, 4-12x40, and 6-18x50, the range covers everything from general stalking to more deliberate shooting at extended distances.

A consistent trait of the series is its focus on usable hunting features. Bushnell states that Legend scopes are factory-set to be parallax-free at 100 yards, which suits the distances at which many hunting rifles are zeroed and used. Some variants add features such as an illuminated reticle or side-focus adjustment, while others keep the layout simpler for faster handling and lower weight. Documented Legend models also use Bushnell’s EXO Barrier on exterior lens surfaces, a protective coating intended to shed water, oil, fog, dust, and debris. In practice, that gives the Legend line a clear identity: conventional hunting riflescopes with sensible magnification ranges, durable construction, and optics designed for real outdoor conditions.

About the Bushnell Legend 4-12x40

The Bushnell Legend 4-12x40 is a classic all-round hunting riflescope configuration. Its 4-12x magnification range gives it more reach than a basic 3-9x class scope while still remaining manageable for general field use. At the low end, 4x is suitable for typical stalking distances and for picking up game without an overly narrow sight picture. At 12x, the scope gives the shooter more precision for small aiming points, load testing, or longer shots where target definition matters more.

The 40.00 mm objective lens keeps the scope trim enough for practical mounting on many hunting rifles, while the fully multicoated optical system is intended to preserve contrast and brightness when light is poor. The fixed 91,44 m parallax setting keeps operation simple: there is no side wheel or adjustable objective to manage, which is often an advantage on a rifle meant for quick, uncomplicated use. A fast focus eyepiece also helps the shooter bring the reticle into sharp focus quickly.

Mechanically, this model follows a traditional hunting pattern. The 25.4 mm tube fits standard 1 inch rings, and the capped turrets are better suited to a set-and-forget zero than to frequent dialing in the field. With a 300.00 mm length and 470.00 g weight, it remains compact enough for a carry rifle, while its waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction supports dependable use in changing weather and under recoil.

About Bushnell

Bushnell was founded in 1948 by Dave Bushnell. The company grew from optical products sold through a photographic shop in Pasadena, California and developed into a well-known name in sports optics. Bushnell’s product range includes binoculars, riflescopes, red dot sights, rangefinders, spotting scopes, and trail cameras, reflecting a long focus on hunting, target shooting, birding, and general outdoor observation.

Within riflescopes and related optics, Bushnell is known for broad, practical product families such as Legend, Prime, Elite Tactical, and AR Optics. The company also uses proprietary features such as EXO Barrier, a lens coating designed to repel water, oil, dust, and debris from exposed glass surfaces. In 2013, ATK acquired Bushnell Group Holdings, adding Bushnell to a larger outdoor products portfolio. Bushnell’s reputation in this category rests on offering accessible optics with field-oriented features and a wide model range for hunting and shooting applications.
