Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB 10x42

• Applied Ballistics Elite integration: The built-in solver delivers holdover and firing solutions directly in the display, reducing the need to move between binoculars, rangefinder, and external ballistic tools when setting up a shot.
• 4600.00 m laser rangefinder: Long maximum ranging reach gives this binocular the flexibility for open-country hunting and long-range observation, while the internal display keeps distance data visible without breaking the viewing position.
• 10x42 roof-prism format: The 10x magnification offers useful detail at distance without becoming overly specialized, and the 42.00 mm objective size keeps the binocular practical for extended carrying in the field.
• Angle compensation and scan functions: The inclinometer, Horizontal Component Distance capability, and scan mode help deliver more relevant distance information on uneven terrain or moving observation sequences.
• HD optical system with field-ready protection: Fully multicoated lenses, phase-corrected Schmidt/Pechan prisms, nitrogen filling, and waterproof and fogproof construction support clear viewing in changing weather and demanding hunting conditions.

About the Vortex Fury Series

The Vortex Fury series combines two field essentials in one housing: a full-size binocular and a built-in laser rangefinder. Introduced in January 2017, the family was developed for hunting and long-range shooting, where fast target identification and immediate distance confirmation matter more than carrying separate devices. Across the line, Fury models are built around the practical idea of keeping the user behind the glass while collecting range data, which speeds up decision-making and reduces unnecessary movement.

Within the series, the Fury HD 5000 generation adds longer ranging capability and Horizontal Component Distance readings for line-of-sight and angle-compensated distance information. The Fury HD 5000 AB version goes further with an Applied Ballistics Elite solver, environmental sensors, and wind-bearing capture, turning the binocular into a more complete ballistic tool rather than a simple ranging optic. Vortex also designed the platform to work with the FURY HD app and compatible Kestrel and Garmin devices, making the series especially relevant to shooters who want binocular viewing, ranging, and ballistic support in one coordinated system.

About the Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB 10x42

The Vortex Fury HD 5000 AB 10x42 is built for users who need more than distance alone. Its 10.00 x magnification and 42.00 mm objective lenses give it the familiar handling of a hunting binocular, but the defining feature is the combination of a long-range laser and an onboard Applied Ballistics Elite engine. That means the binocular can do more than confirm how far away a target is; it can also present ballistic information in the display, helping the shooter move from observation to shot setup with fewer separate steps.

The optical layout supports this role well. A Roof - Schmidt/Pechan prism system keeps the body compact, while fully multicoated lenses and phase correction help preserve contrast and detail when glassing at distance. The 98.00 m/1000m field of view is wide enough for searching terrain efficiently, yet 10x magnification still gives enough image scale for evaluating animals or landmarks across open ground. With 16.00 mm eye relief and a central focusing system, the binocular remains practical for extended observation sessions and accessible for many eyeglass wearers.

Its ranging functions are equally field-oriented. The 4600.00 m maximum range, internal display, scan mode, target mode, inclinometer, and red illuminated display all help the unit stay usable in varied terrain and light conditions. Nitrogen filling, waterproof and fogproof construction, tripod adaptability, and a 920.00 g build complete a design intended for serious hunting optics use, where stability, weather resistance, and fast information access matter as much as raw optical performance.

About Vortex

Vortex traces its roots to a Wild Birds Unlimited store opened by the Hamilton family in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1986. The brand entered the sport optics market in 2002 and is now headquartered in Barneveld, Wisconsin, where it operates as an employee-owned company. Its core focus is sport optics for hunting, shooting, and outdoor use, with product lines that include binoculars, riflescopes, spotting scopes, laser rangefinders, and red dot sights.

Within that field, Vortex is known for building broad product families such as Razor, Viper, and Kaibab, while also expanding into ballistic tools powered by GeoBallistics technology. The company’s role in supplying fire-control systems for the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapons program in 2022 also reflects experience beyond conventional sporting optics. For a product like the Fury HD 5000 AB, that background is relevant because it connects optical design with ranging and ballistic capability in one field-ready system.
