Vortex Diamondback HD 20-60x85 Angled

• HD optical system: Selected HD glass helps reduce chromatic aberration and keeps color fringing under control, so distant animals, target details, and terrain features stay easier to read at long range.
• 20-60x zoom with 85 mm objective: The wide magnification range gives this spotting scope the flexibility for scanning at lower power and then moving to higher magnification for detailed evaluation without changing equipment.
• Angled eyepiece design: The 45° viewing angle is more comfortable for prolonged observation from a tripod, especially when glassing uphill, sharing the scope, or working from seated and prone positions.
• Fully multi-coated lenses: Anti-reflective coatings improve light transmission and contrast, which helps preserve image brightness in poor light and reduces eye strain during long sessions behind the scope.
• Weather-sealed, tripod-ready construction: Waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction and direct tripod adaptability make the scope practical for field use in changing weather and on long observation days.

About the Vortex Diamondback Series

Vortex Diamondback HD sits in the brand’s accessible full-size spotting-scope range and is built for users who need dependable field optics for hunting and wildlife observation. The series currently includes 65 mm and 85 mm models in both straight and angled configurations, giving users a choice between a more compact setup and a larger objective for stronger low-light performance. Across the line, the emphasis is on practical field use rather than specialist bench features.

The series uses an HD optical system with selected glass elements to reduce chromatic aberration and improve color fidelity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and light transmission. Fully multi-coated lenses support contrast and image brightness, while the rubber-armored body is designed for regular transport and outdoor handling. Current Diamondback HD spotting scopes are also tripod-adaptable and Arca-Swiss compatible, which makes them easy to integrate into modern glassing setups. With waterproof and fogproof sealing and a straightforward focus system, the Diamondback HD family is aimed at users who want a capable spotting scope for open-country observation, range work, and general long-distance viewing.

About the Vortex Diamondback HD 20-60x85 Angled

The Vortex Diamondback HD 20-60x85 Angled is the larger Diamondback HD spotting scope, built around an 85 mm objective lens and a versatile 20-60x magnification range. That combination makes it well suited to long sessions of glassing where both image brightness and detail matter, whether the task is judging game at distance, checking impacts on the range, or studying wildlife across open ground. At 20x it is easier to scan and maintain a stable image, while the upper end of the zoom range gives the extra reach needed for careful identification.

The angled eyepiece layout improves comfort on a tripod, particularly when observing from uneven terrain or when several users of different heights are sharing the same setup. The scope’s 18.3-20.3 mm eye relief also helps maintain a more forgiving viewing position, which is useful during extended observation and for eyeglass wearers. Its fully multi-coated HD optics are intended to keep contrast and color fidelity intact while limiting distracting color fringing around high-contrast subjects.

Mechanically, this model is configured for practical field use. The central focusing system allows quick adjustment as viewing distances change, and the body is nitrogen filled, waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof for use in variable weather. Tripod adaptability is essential on a 60x spotting scope, and the angled Diamondback HD is designed for exactly that kind of stable, deliberate observation. For users who want a full-size hunting optic or a dependable spotting scope for range and outdoor use, this model balances reach, comfort, and durability well.

About Vortex

Vortex traces its roots to a Wild Birds Unlimited store opened by the Hamilton family in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1986. The Vortex brand entered the sport optics market in 2002, and the company is now headquartered in Barneveld, Wisconsin. It is employee-owned and operated and focuses on optics for hunting, shooting, and general outdoor use.

The company’s catalog covers riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, laser rangefinders, and red dots, with product families such as Razor, Viper, and Kaibab alongside Diamondback. Vortex also offers ballistic tools powered by GeoBallistics technology, and in 2022 it was selected to produce and deliver fire-control systems for the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapons program. In practical terms, Vortex is known for building sport optics that span entry-level to advanced use while keeping a strong focus on field durability and straightforward operation.
