Steiner Micro Pistol Sight (MPS) 2.0 Product description

  • Enclosed emitter design: The sealed optical system keeps the emitter protected from rain, lint, dust and debris, which helps the sight stay usable on a carry pistol, duty handgun or competition setup in poor conditions.
  • 3.3 MOA red dot: This dot size is easy to pick up during fast presentations while still allowing deliberate shot placement, making it well suited to defensive shooting, training and practical competition.
  • Aimpoint ACRO footprint: The widely used mounting interface gives the sight broad compatibility with ACRO-pattern pistol plates and mounting solutions, simplifying installation on optics-ready handguns.
  • Manual brightness control with day and night settings: Push-button intensity adjustment lets the shooter tune the dot to ambient light, preserving visibility in bright daylight and avoiding excessive bloom in darker conditions.
  • Compact all-metal construction: At 48.00 mm and 58.00 g, the sight adds minimal bulk while providing the rigidity and recoil resistance expected from a pistol optic built for regular use.

About the Steiner Reflex Sights Series

Steiner Reflex Sights sit in the brand’s red-dot lineup as compact, fast-targeting optics built around 1× aiming and straightforward handling. Within the current range, Steiner lists the MPS, MPS 2.0, and MPS-C, covering enclosed pistol-dot formats as well as more compact carry-oriented options. The series is aimed at shooters who need rapid sight acquisition for duty, personal defense, competition, and everyday carry, with an emphasis on practical mounting standards and durable construction.

A defining trait of this family is its focus on enclosed or protected emitter concepts and robust metal housings, giving these sights better resistance to weather, fouling and hard use than many open-emitter alternatives. In the MPS pattern, Steiner uses the Aimpoint ACRO footprint, which supports broad compatibility with modern optics-ready pistol systems. Dot options in the series include 2 MOA and 3.3 MOA configurations, allowing shooters to choose between a finer aiming point or quicker visual pickup. Across the line, the design philosophy is clear: compact dimensions, intuitive controls, and dependable electronic sighting performance for handguns used at speed and under stress.

About the Steiner Micro Pistol Sight (MPS) 2.0

The Steiner Micro Pistol Sight (MPS) 2.0 is a 1× enclosed reflex sight built for handguns that need a compact optic without giving up environmental protection. Its enclosed emitter layout is especially relevant on a pistol, where the optic is exposed to sweat, clothing fibers, rain and residue from daily carry or intensive range use. By shielding the emitter inside the housing, the sight reduces one of the common failure points of open pistol dots and keeps the aiming point available when conditions are less than ideal.

This version uses a 3.30 MOA dot, which balances speed and precision well for defensive shooting and practical competition. The dot is large enough to draw the eye quickly during the draw stroke, yet still controlled enough for careful shot placement at longer pistol distances. Manual push-button brightness adjustment allows the intensity to be matched to changing light, and the sight is rated for daytime-usable illumination, so the dot remains visible outdoors where weaker emitters can wash out.

The 1 MOA click value and generous 90 MOA windage and elevation adjustment provide enough correction range for zeroing across different slide cuts, adapter plates and ammunition choices. Steiner also specifies the sight as parallax free from 10m to 150m, helping keep the point of aim consistent through realistic pistol distances. With its Aimpoint ACRO footprint, CR1632 battery, 13,000 h battery life, and a housing that is waterproof, fogproof and shockproof, the MPS 2.0 is configured as a practical handgun red dot for carry, duty and hard training use.

About Steiner

Steiner was founded by Karl Steiner in 1947 in Bayreuth, Germany, where the company is still headquartered. The brand built its reputation in rugged field optics and later expanded across several specialist segments, producing binoculars, riflescopes, and thermal-imaging products for hunting, outdoor, marine, defense and law-enforcement use. Steiner introduced binoculars with nitrogen filling in 1973 to reduce internal fogging during temperature changes, and in 1979 it launched a binocular with an integrated compass that established the Commander marine line.

In more recent decades, Steiner broadened its sporting and tactical optics portfolio, including the Nighthunter hunting concept introduced in 2000. The company has been part of Beretta Holding since August 2008. Across categories, Steiner is known for robust mechanical construction and optics intended for demanding field conditions, which is directly relevant to compact red-dot sights such as the MPS series.

whats up with the 2.0?

by deacz

Dear Sir!

The “2.0” version of the Steiner Micro Pistol Sight (MPS) is an updated iteration of the original model with several practical improvements rather than a full redesign.

Main changes include larger control buttons for easier operation (especially with gloves), an updated battery type switching from CR1632 to CR2032 for increased capacity and longer runtime, and a more robust mounting/clamping interface for improved security on the ACRO footprint.

The core features remain the same, including the enclosed emitter design, 3.3 MOA dot, full metal construction, and overall size and optical performance.

Kind regards,

by Optics Trade team
