Pachmayr XLT Ultra Soft Pad

• Ultra-soft recoil reduction: The XLT pad uses a very soft rubber formula to reduce felt recoil, helping keep heavier rifle loads more manageable over long shooting sessions.
• Trap-style profile: Its trap-shaped form gives the butt a clean shoulder fit and a stable mounting surface, which helps the rifle come up consistently shot after shot.
• Leather-textured face: The textured contact surface balances grip and smooth mounting, so the pad stays planted without feeling overly sticky on clothing.
• Grind-to-fit construction: The pad is designed for fitting work, making it a practical choice for stock upgrades, repairs, or custom rifle builds where a neat final fit matters.
• Made in the USA: Domestic production and Pachmayr’s long focus on recoil-control accessories make it a dependable option for shooters who want a proven replacement pad.

About the Pachmayr Accessories Series

Pachmayr Accessories covers a broad range of shooting components built around practical handling improvements, with a long-standing emphasis on grips and recoil pads for rifles and shotguns. The series sits at the functional end of the brand’s lineup: parts meant to improve control, comfort, and fit rather than add unnecessary complexity. Within the range, Pachmayr offers solutions for handguns, revolvers, and long guns, including rubber grip designs and recoil pads developed for field, sporting, and workshop use.

For long-gun applications, the series is especially known for products that help manage recoil and improve how a firearm mounts to the shoulder. That makes it relevant for hunting rifles, range rifles, and shotgun setups where repeated firing can quickly become fatiguing. Rubber recoil-reducing materials, familiar Pachmayr pad shapes, and gunsmith-friendly fitment are central themes across the line. In practice, the series appeals to shooters who want a straightforward upgrade that improves comfort, preserves control under recoil, and supports a more consistent shooting position without changing the character of the firearm itself.

About the Pachmayr XLT Ultra Soft Pad

The Pachmayr XLT Ultra Soft Pad is built for shooters who want maximum emphasis on recoil absorption from a traditional replacement pad. Its defining feature is the XLT ultra-soft rubber formula, developed to feel noticeably softer than standard recoil-pad compounds while still remaining suitable for fitting and installation work. On rifles with stronger recoil, that softer compression helps spread the impulse over a longer moment, reducing the sharpness that can disturb position, concentration, and follow-through.

This model uses a trap-style shape, which gives the rear of the stock a profile many shooters prefer for deliberate mounting and repeatable shoulder placement. That is useful on rifles used for extended bench sessions, load development, or any setup where repeated recoil can build fatigue over time. The leather-textured face adds controlled contact against clothing, helping the rifle seat securely without making the mount feel abrupt or sticky.

Because the pad is made from rubber and intended as a fitment accessory, it also suits stock refurbishment and custom builds where comfort and finish both matter. At 255.00 g, it adds some rear weight that can slightly soften the feel of recoil while giving the buttstock a more substantial contact surface. For shooters upgrading a hard factory buttplate or replacing a worn pad, this model focuses on one clear goal: making repeated shooting more comfortable while preserving a conventional rifle-stock feel.

About Pachmayr

Pachmayr was founded by Frank Pachmayr in 1929 and built its name around practical firearm accessories for shooters, hunters, and gunsmiths. The company introduced its first recoil pad in 1949, and that early focus on recoil management remains central to the brand today. Pachmayr later expanded into handgun grips and other workshop-oriented shooting accessories, becoming especially well known for rubber grip designs and recoil-reducing products.

The brand’s product range includes handgun grips, recoil pads, gunsmithing tools, and related shooting accessories, with materials such as Decelerator playing an important role in its recoil-control products. Pachmayr joined Lyman in 1996, linking the brand with a broader group of established shooting-equipment products while keeping its identity in grips and pads. For rifle and shotgun accessories, Pachmayr remains closely associated with practical upgrades that improve comfort, control, and day-to-day usability.
