Meprolight Tru-Dot for Ruger Mini 14 (Front Sight)

• Self-Illuminated Tritium: The tritium insert stays visible in low light and at night without batteries, so the front sight is always ready when the rifle comes up on target.
• Steel Construction: A steel body gives the sight the strength needed for hard field use, helping it hold up to knocks, handling, and regular carry.
• Fixed Front Sight Design: The fixed configuration keeps the setup simple and durable, making it well suited to a working rifle that needs a dependable aiming reference rather than extra adjustment controls.
• Green Dot Sight Picture: The green aiming point stands out clearly in dim conditions, helping the eye pick up the front sight faster for quicker alignment.
• Ruger Mini 14 Compatibility: This model is made for Ruger Mini 14 rifles manufactured up to 2005, giving owners of earlier rifles a direct night-sight upgrade for better low-light usability.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot Series

Meprolight Tru-Dot sights are built around a simple idea: provide a clear aiming reference that works in daylight, low light, and darkness without relying on batteries. In Meprolight’s lineup, the series covers fixed, adjustable, and specialized configurations, giving the brand a broad family of self-illuminated sights for practical defensive, duty, and field use. The common thread is tritium illumination, which keeps the sight picture visible around the clock and reduces dependence on ambient light or electronic systems.

Across the series, Tru-Dot models are designed as replacement sights for specific firearm platforms, with versions made for a wide range of handguns and long guns. The emphasis is on a familiar, easy-to-read dot arrangement that remains consistent when lighting conditions change. That makes the series especially relevant for users who want a sighting system that stays straightforward under stress. In practical terms, Meprolight Tru-Dot sights focus on durability, fast visual acquisition, and low-light capability, making them a strong fit for firearms that are carried, stored for readiness, or used in conditions where standard iron sights become harder to see.

About the Meprolight Tru-Dot for Ruger Mini 14 (Front Sight)

The Meprolight Tru-Dot for Ruger Mini 14 (Front Sight) is a dedicated front night sight for shooters who want to improve the low-light usability of an older Ruger Mini 14. Designed for rifles manufactured up to 2005, it replaces the standard front sight with a self-illuminated aiming point that remains visible when ambient light drops. For a rifle used around a property, in a patrol role, or for general field carry, that matters because the front sight is the part the eye must find first. A glowing front reference helps speed that process when black sights begin to disappear against dark backgrounds.

This model uses a green tritium insert in a fixed steel housing, combining low-light visibility with a robust construction that suits a working rifle. Because the sight is self-illuminated, there are no switches, batteries, or brightness settings to manage. That keeps operation simple and predictable: the sight is always on and always presented the same way. The fixed design also supports reliability, with fewer variables than an adjustable system and less to snag or shift in hard use.

The dot and bar alignment style is intended to give a clear visual relationship between front and rear sight elements, helping the shooter settle the rifle quickly and confirm alignment with less hesitation. For owners of earlier Mini 14 rifles, this front sight offers a practical upgrade that improves visibility without changing the rifle’s basic handling or manual of arms.

About Meprolight

Meprolight was founded in 1990 as a supplier of sights and battle optics to the Israel Defense Forces. Based in Or Akiva, Israel, the company develops and manufactures optical and electro-optical sighting systems for military, law-enforcement, and civilian markets. Its catalog covers conventional sights, tritium night sights, reflex optics, magnified optics, night-vision systems, and thermal devices.

The company’s experience spans sighting solutions for pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines, which gives it a strong position in both iron-sight and electronic-optic categories. That background is especially relevant to products like the Tru-Dot series, where rugged construction and dependable low-light visibility are more important than electronic complexity. As a division of SK Group, Meprolight remains closely associated with practical combat and defensive sighting systems built for real-world handling conditions.
