Meopta MeoHunter R5 3-15x50 SFP RD

• 3-15x magnification range: This zoom span covers the jobs most hunters meet in one scope, from shorter woodland shots at 3x to more deliberate placement across open ground at 15x.
• 50 mm objective lens: The larger front lens helps maintain a brighter sight picture in the first and last light periods when game is often most active.
• Second focal plane illuminated reticle: The reticle stays visually consistent through the zoom range, while the red illumination helps the aiming point stand out against dark targets or shaded backgrounds.
• Side parallax adjustment from 10 m to infinity: Fine parallax correction sharpens the image and reduces aiming error, which is especially useful for precise shooting at varied distances.
• Locking tactical turrets: The turrets are built for positive adjustment while helping prevent accidental movement during transport or field carry.

About the Meopta MeoHunter Series

The Meopta MeoHunter R5 series is positioned as an accessible entry into Meopta hunting optics, aimed at beginning hunters and shooters who want a practical variable-power riflescope without moving into the brand’s more specialized premium lines. Built around a 5× zoom system, the series is designed to cover the broad middle ground of real field use, where one optic may need to handle woodland stalking, high-seat hunting, and range work with the same rifle.

Across the range, Meopta offers both first- and second-focal-plane reticle configurations, with reticle options including 4C and BDC 3. Illuminated reticles with adjustable brightness broaden the scope’s usefulness in dim conditions, and Meopta also states that these illuminated reticles can be used with night-vision or thermal-imaging devices. That makes the series relevant not only for traditional daytime hunting optics, but also for users building a more flexible setup around modern observation and aiming equipment. The overall concept is straightforward: practical magnification, familiar controls, and field-oriented features in a format that remains easy to mount and carry.

About the Meopta MeoHunter R5 3-15x50 SFP RD

The Meopta MeoHunter R5 3-15x50 SFP RD is an all-round hunting riflescope built for shooters who need one optic to cover mixed distances. Its 3-15x magnification range gives it a broad working envelope: low enough for fast target acquisition at closer ranges, yet with enough top-end magnification for careful shot placement when the distance opens up. Paired with a 50.00 mm objective, it is particularly well suited to dawn and dusk use, where extra image brightness helps with target definition and reticle visibility.

This model uses a second focal plane reticle, so the reticle size remains visually unchanged as magnification is increased. In practice, that gives many hunters a familiar sight picture and a fine aiming point at higher power. The red illumination adds contrast against dark game or shaded backgrounds without changing the basic reticle appearance. Side parallax adjustment from 10 m to infinity helps keep the image sharp across a wide range of shooting distances and supports more precise aiming when using the upper half of the zoom range.

Mechanically, the scope balances field use and adjustment control well. Its locking tactical turrets provide repeatable correction while reducing the chance of unintentional movement in transit. A 30 mm tube gives ample internal adjustment, with 26.20 mrad of elevation and windage travel available. The 95.00–98.00 mm eye relief supports stable head position and comfortable use on hunting rifles, while the MeoBright lens coating, nitrogen filling, and waterproof, fogproof, shockproof construction make the scope suitable for demanding weather and regular field handling.

About Meopta

Meopta traces its roots to Optikotechna, founded in Přerov, Czechoslovakia, in 1933. After World War II, the company was nationalized and renamed Meopta, and it remains headquartered in Přerov, Czech Republic. The company develops and manufactures optical, opto-mechanical, and optoelectronic products, with long experience across both civilian and professional applications.

In sports optics, Meopta is known for producing riflescopes, binoculars, and spotting scopes, and it resumed riflescope production in 1988. Technologies associated with the brand include MeoBright, its antireflective lens coating, and MeoDrop, a hydrophobic coating designed to repel water and dirt. That background is relevant here because it shows Meopta’s emphasis on practical optical performance, durable mechanical construction, and coatings intended for real outdoor use rather than display-only specifications.
