Leica Geovid Pro 8x56 Product description

  • 8x56 low-light configuration: The combination of 8x magnification and a 56 mm objective lens delivers a large 7 mm exit pupil, which helps keep the image bright and relaxed to view during dawn, dusk, and woodland hunting.
  • Integrated laser rangefinder with ballistics: The built-in rangefinder measures out to 2950.00 m and works with ballistic software, so the binocular can support distance and holdover decisions without adding a separate device to the kit.
  • Porro-Perger prism system: Leica’s Porro - Perger prism design supports strong contrast and depth perception while keeping the body practical for field use, which is especially useful when judging game in difficult light.
  • Bluetooth connectivity: Wireless connection to the Leica Ballistics app allows ballistic profiles to be transferred to the binocular, making it easier to keep the rangefinding and firing solution setup aligned with a specific rifle and load.
  • Magnesium housing with AquaDura coating: The magnesium body, nitrogen filling, waterproof and fogproof construction, and AquaDura lens coating help the binocular stay dependable in wet weather, cold mornings, and frequent field handling.

About the Leica Geovid Pro Series

The Leica Geovid Pro series is Leica’s premium hunting-binocular family, built to combine high-grade observation, laser rangefinding, and onboard ballistic support in one instrument. Leica introduced the line with the 8×32 and 10×32 models in 2022, then expanded it with larger configurations including the 8×42, 10×42, and 8×56. Across the range, the design focus is practical hunting use: fast target acquisition, dependable ranging, and fewer separate devices to carry when time matters.

A defining part of the series is Applied Ballistics Ultralight, which allows the binoculars to provide ballistic calculations after a distance reading. Bluetooth connectivity links the binocular to the Leica Ballistics app, where profiles can be transferred to the device; an Elite upgrade extends the calculation range for users who need more advanced long-distance capability. The series spans 32 mm, 42 mm, and 56 mm objective sizes, giving hunters a choice between compact handling, all-round versatility, and stronger low-light performance. Throughout the range, the Geovid Pro concept stays consistent: combine Leica hunting optics, a laser rangefinder, and ballistic assistance in a single binocular suited to field decisions at varying distances.

About the Leica Geovid Pro 8x56

The Leica Geovid Pro 8x56 is the low-light specialist in the Geovid Pro line. Its 8x magnification gives a steady, wide view for scanning larger areas, while the 56.00 mm objective lenses and 7.00 mm exit pupil are tuned for use when legal shooting light is fading and detail becomes harder to separate from the background. With 91% light transmission and a 118.00 m/1000m field of view, it is set up for hunters who need both image brightness and enough width to follow movement in open country edges, forest rides, or high seats.

The integrated rangefinder reaches 2950.00 m, returns readings in about 0.3 s, and works with an inclinometer, scan mode, and ballistic software. In practice, that means the binocular can do more than confirm distance: it can support angle-aware measurements and continuous ranging when an animal is moving or when terrain changes the shot geometry. Bluetooth adds a direct link to ballistic profiles, reducing the need to juggle separate electronics in the field.

Optically, the Porro - Perger prism system helps preserve contrast and spatial impression, both of which matter when judging game in poor light. The 18.00 mm eye relief gives comfortable viewing, including for many eyeglass wearers, while the central focusing system keeps operation simple with gloves. Mechanically, the magnesium housing, open-bridge layout, AquaDura coating, and waterproof, fogproof construction make this rangefinding binocular suitable for regular hunting use in wet and cold conditions.

About Leica

Leica Camera AG traces its history to 1869, when Ernst Leitz took over Carl Kellner’s Optical Institute in Wetzlar. The company remains headquartered in Wetzlar, Germany and is known for making cameras, lenses, and sports optics. In sport optics, Leica’s range includes binoculars, spotting scopes, riflescopes, and rangefinders, with a long-standing emphasis on optical design and mechanical precision.

Leica’s binocular history reaches back to 1907, and the company introduced the Trinovid line in 1958. For this product category, one of the most relevant milestones came in 1992, when Leica introduced the Geovid, the first binoculars with an integrated rangefinder. That background is directly reflected in the Geovid Pro family, which combines Leica’s experience in observation optics with laser distance measurement and ballistic support for hunting use.
