Kahles Helia 3 4-12x44i

• 4-12x magnification range: This zoom span covers the needs of a stalking and mountain hunting riflescope, giving a wider view at 4x for fast target acquisition and enough top-end magnification at 12x for careful shot placement at longer distances.
• 44 mm objective with fully multicoated lenses: The optical system balances light transmission, manageable size and low carried weight, helping maintain a clear image in changing light without making the rifle feel front-heavy.
• Illuminated SFP reticle with automatic shut-off: The red illuminated reticle stays visually consistent through the zoom range, while the automatic shut-off function helps preserve battery life during real hunting use.
• 1-inch main tube: The 25.4 mm tube keeps the scope slim and traditional in profile, and it often allows hunters to reuse existing 1-inch ring setups instead of changing the whole mounting system.
• Capped multi-turn turrets: The capped design protects settings from accidental movement in the field, making this configuration better suited to practical hunting carry than to constant dial-heavy target use.

About the Kahles Helia 3 Series

The KAHLES HELIA 3 series was introduced in June 2015 as a hunting-focused family built around a slim 1-inch (25.4 mm) main tube and a more traditional scope profile. Within the KAHLES lineup, HELIA models are aimed at hunters, while the K series serves sport-shooting applications, so the HELIA 3 range is clearly positioned for practical field use rather than competition-style adjustment features. The series combines classic styling with the brand’s premium optical approach, giving hunters a scope that feels familiar on the rifle while still delivering modern image quality.

HELIA 3 riflescopes use second-focal-plane reticles, which keeps reticle appearance constant as magnification changes, and illuminated variants add automaticlight functionality for low-light hunting. The range has included 3-9x42, 3-10x50, 3-10x50i, 4-12x44 and 4-12x44i models, covering everything from general-purpose woodland use to more open-country stalking. KAHLES describes the 4-12x44i configuration in particular as suited to stalking and mountain hunting, which reflects the series philosophy: moderate weight, straightforward controls, dependable illumination and premium optics in a compact hunting riflescope.

About the Kahles Helia 3 4-12x44i

The Kahles Helia 3 4-12x44i is a hunting riflescope built for shooters who want more reach than a low-power woodland optic, but without the bulk of a larger 50 mm class scope. Its 4-12x magnification range makes it especially well suited to stalking and mountain hunting, where distances can change quickly and shots may need to be taken from improvised positions. At the lower end, the image remains easier to manage when scanning terrain or picking up game; at the upper end, 12x gives the precision needed for more deliberate shot placement. The 44 mm objective lens helps keep the scope trim and easy to mount while still supporting solid low-light performance for dawn and dusk hunting.

The second focal plane reticle keeps the reticle size unchanged across the zoom range, which many hunters prefer because the sight picture stays familiar at every setting. This model also adds red illumination with automatic shut-off, giving better reticle visibility against dark game or shaded backgrounds without unnecessary battery drain. The capped turrets and fixed 100 m parallax show that this scope is designed for straightforward field use rather than frequent on-the-fly dialing. A 90.00 mm eye relief supports comfortable shooting on hunting rifles, while the fast-focus eyepiece speeds up reticle adjustment to the shooter’s eye. With its 485.00 g weight, 351.00 mm length, nitrogen-filled construction and waterproof, fogproof and shockproof build, this model stays practical for rifles that are carried far and used in changing weather.

About Kahles

Karl Robert Kahles founded KAHLES in Vienna, Austria, in 1898, making it one of the long-established names in sporting optics. The company is an Austrian optics manufacturer headquartered in Guntramsdorf and develops and manufactures riflescopes and binoculars. Within its product structure, the HELIA line is dedicated to hunting optics, while the K line focuses on sport-shooting riflescopes.

KAHLES has a long history of technical development in riflescope design. Around 1900, Karl Robert Kahles introduced achromatic lenses to improve color rendering and field of view. In 1960, the company introduced the HELIA SUPER, described as its first waterproof riflescope with a patented O-ring seal. In 1972, KAHLES introduced achromatic multilayer coating that enabled more than 90% light transmission through the riflescope. KAHLES later became a subsidiary of SWAROVSKI-OPTIK AG & Co KG, reinforcing its place in the premium Austrian optics segment.
