Hikmicro Thunder TQ50 2.0 Product description

  • 640×512 thermal sensor with <20 mK NETD: The high-resolution 12 μm sensor separates small temperature differences more clearly, which helps pick out animals, heat signatures and terrain detail in rain, fog, cold backgrounds and other difficult conditions.
  • 50 mm F1.0 objective and 2600 m detection range: The large-aperture lens gathers more thermal energy and supports long-distance detection, giving the scope the reach needed for open-field observation and longer shooting distances.
  • 2.6× optical magnification with up to 20.8x digital zoom: The native magnification gives a useful starting image scale for hunting optics, while the digital zoom range lets the shooter inspect targets more closely without changing position.
  • 1024×768 OLED display with onboard recording: The OLED screen presents a crisp viewing image with strong contrast, and the built-in photo and video functions let the user save observations, review shots and document activity in the field.
  • Compact 530 g housing with IP67 protection: Its relatively light, short body keeps rifle handling more balanced, while the waterproof and fogproof construction supports reliable use in wet weather and changing temperatures.

About the Hikmicro Thunder Series

HIKMICRO THUNDER 2.0 is the updated generation of the company’s thermal scope line, introduced on April 12, 2023 as the successor to the earlier THUNDER family. Within HIKMICRO’s outdoor range, the series sits alongside the STELLAR thermal scopes and is aimed at users who want a compact dedicated thermal sight for hunting and related field work such as search and rescue. The line is built around uncooled thermal imaging sensors paired with OLED displays, combining practical image quality with a form factor that stays manageable on a rifle.

Across the series, THUNDER 2.0 models focus on features that matter in real use rather than unnecessary bulk. They support multiple thermal image palettes so the user can adapt the view to terrain, target contrast and personal preference, and they offer different flat-field correction modes to keep the image consistent during longer observation sessions. The series also includes onboard video recording and snapshot capture, which is useful for reviewing target behavior, documenting outings or sharing footage later. Model options in the range cover different sensor and lens combinations, including the TE19 2.0, TE25 2.0, TH25P 2.0, TH35P 2.0, TQ35 2.0 and TQ50 2.0, allowing the user to choose between wider field coverage and more reach.

About the Hikmicro Thunder TQ50 2.0

Hikmicro Thunder TQ50 2.0 is the longer-range model in the THUNDER 2.0 thermal riflescope family, built around a 640×512, 12 μm thermal sensor and a 50 mm F1.0 objective lens. This combination is designed for users who need more reach and more target detail at distance, whether scanning open ground, identifying heat sources beyond typical woodland ranges or taking advantage of a higher base magnification for more deliberate shot placement. With 2.6× optical magnification and a stated 2600 m detection range, the TQ50 2.0 is especially well suited to situations where early detection matters as much as the shot itself.

The sensor’s <20 mK NETD helps the scope show subtle temperature differences that can otherwise disappear in damp air, low-contrast backgrounds or unstable weather. In practice, that means cleaner separation between the animal and its surroundings, with less dependence on ideal thermal conditions. The 1024×768 OLED display gives the user a sharp viewing image with strong contrast, while the available digital zoom extends the view up to 20.8x for closer inspection after the target has already been found at native magnification.

Mechanically, the TQ50 2.0 balances field usability with a compact footprint. Its 230.00 mm body and 530.00 g weight help keep the rifle from becoming front-heavy, and the 45.00 mm eye relief supports safer, more comfortable shooting positions. The scope also records photos and video, includes video output, and runs on a replaceable Li-ion battery with up to 8.50 h of battery life, making it practical for longer outings where observation, recording and repeated use all matter.

About Hikmicro

HIKMICRO was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Hangzhou, China. The company specializes in thermal imaging, while also working in visible-light imaging, ultrasonic technology, electromagnetic technology and radar. In the outdoor optics segment, HIKMICRO has built a focused product portfolio that covers thermal monoculars, thermal scopes, thermal clip-ons, digital day-and-night scopes and multispectrum binoculars.

Its product families are organized by application, with THUNDER and STELLAR covering thermal scope use, ALPEX serving digital day-and-night vision, and lines such as LYNX, FALCON, CONDOR and HABROK addressing handheld and multispectrum observation. HIKMICRO’s outdoor development has been closely tied to compact 12 μm thermal detectors; its 2023 outdoor brochure records the release of 12 μm detectors in 256×192, 384×288 and 640×512 resolutions in 2020. That background is directly relevant to products such as the THUNDER TQ50 2.0, where sensor size, thermal sensitivity and compact packaging are central to field performance.
