HI VIZ LiteWave Rear Sight, Ruger American Pistol

• Interchangeable LitePipes: The rear sight accepts replaceable LitePipes, so the sight picture can be tuned to different backgrounds, lighting conditions, or shooter preference without replacing the whole unit.
• LiteWave exoskeleton design: The protective wave-shaped frame exposes more of the fiber to ambient light while shielding it from impact, helping the sight stay bright and durable in regular carry or range use.
• Fits Ruger American pistols: This rear sight is made for full-size and compact Ruger American pistol models, giving owners a direct upgrade from a basic factory rear sight to a more visible fiber-optic setup.
• Fixed square-notch rear: A fixed rear with a square notch and 3-dot alignment keeps the sight picture simple and repeatable, which helps with fast front-sight pickup in defensive practice and general range shooting.
• Steel construction: The steel body adds the rigidity needed for a handgun sight that must hold alignment through repeated recoil, holster wear, and routine handling.

About the Hi Viz LITEWAVE Series

Hi Viz LITEWAVE is a fiber-optic sight family introduced in November 2014 and built around a practical idea: make handgun and rifle sights brighter in real use while keeping them durable enough for daily handling. The series uses LitePipe light-gathering elements that draw in ambient light to create a clear, high-visibility aiming reference for daylight shooting and mixed-light conditions. A defining feature is the diagonal-wave exoskeleton, which leaves more of the LitePipe exposed to light while still protecting it from knocks and abrasion.

Across the series, interchangeable LitePipes let shooters change sight color to suit the target, background, or personal preference. That flexibility makes the LITEWAVE line useful across competition, recreational shooting, training, hunting, and general field use. The range includes both front and rear configurations, and HIVIZ designed the sights to remain holster-friendly rather than bulky or delicate. In practice, the LITEWAVE series sits as a versatile option for shooters who want a brighter sight picture than plain black irons, but still prefer the simplicity, low profile, and immediate readiness of non-electronic sights.

About the HI VIZ LiteWave Rear Sight, Ruger American Pistol

The HI VIZ LiteWave Rear Sight, Ruger American Pistol is a dedicated rear-sight upgrade for Ruger American full-size and compact pistols. Its role is straightforward: improve rear-sight visibility and speed up sight alignment without changing the handling characteristics of the pistol. Because it uses the LITEWAVE fiber-optic system, the sight presents a brighter reference than a conventional plain black rear, which can make alignment easier on indoor ranges, in overcast daylight, or against darker targets.

The sight uses a square rear notch with a 3-dot alignment, a familiar layout that supports quick visual indexing for defensive drills, recreational shooting, and general handgun practice. The rear LitePipes are interchangeable, so the shooter can change color emphasis as conditions change. That matters in practical use: a color that stands out on a bright outdoor bay may not be the best choice on a shaded range or against a dark berm. The fixed design also keeps the setup simple, with no exposed adjustment mechanism to complicate installation or everyday carry.

Steel construction gives the sight the strength expected from a handgun rear sight, helping it stay stable under recoil and resist wear from repeated holstering. At 10.00 g, it adds very little weight, so it improves visibility without making the pistol feel top-heavy. The result is a compact handgun sight upgrade that favors fast acquisition, straightforward handling, and the low-maintenance reliability many shooters want from iron sights.

About HiViz

HiViz began in 1996 with a single shooting-related product and grew into a specialist maker of sights and shooting accessories based in Laramie, Wyoming, United States. The company focuses on highly visible sighting systems for handguns, shotguns, and rifles, with product lines that include fiber-optic sights, tritium sights, recoil pads, and related accessories. A key part of its identity is the use of removable and reusable LitePipes, which allow shooters to tailor sight color without replacing the entire sight assembly.

Within HiViz’s lineup, the LiteWave design is especially important because it combines a protective exoskeleton with an integral LitePipe locking system. The company also offers other sight families such as TriViz and CompSight, showing a long-running focus on practical sight visibility rather than electronic complexity. That background makes HiViz particularly relevant in the handgun sight category, where fast alignment, durability, and simple installation matter as much as raw brightness.
