HI VIZ Interchangeable Front Sight, Colt 1911

• Interchangeable LitePipes: The front sight accepts removable LitePipes in multiple colors, letting the shooter tune the sight picture for different light conditions or personal preference without replacing the whole sight.
• Fiber-optic front sight picture: A bright green fiber-optic aiming point stands out clearly against dark targets and busy backgrounds, helping the eye pick up the front sight faster during range work or practical shooting.
• All-steel construction: The steel body gives this handgun front sight the rigidity needed for daily carry or regular training, with better resistance to knocks and holster wear than softer materials.
• Wide-tenon 1911 fit: Built for most Colt 1911 pistols with a wide tenon, this model gives owners of classic 1911 platforms a dedicated upgrade rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.
• Fixed front sight design: A fixed sight keeps the setup simple and durable, making it well suited to shooters who want a dependable front-sight upgrade without adding adjustment mechanisms.

About the Hi Viz Interchangeable Sight Series

The Hi Viz Interchangeable Sight series sits in the brand’s Original Sights family and centers on a simple idea: a durable sight body paired with interchangeable LitePipes. Instead of locking the shooter into one sight color, these models allow the fiber-optic insert to be changed to better suit ambient light, target contrast, or personal preference. That flexibility makes the series relevant to both everyday shooters and competitive shooters, especially on platforms where a fast, clear front-sight reference matters more than added complexity.

Across the range, HIVIZ offers interchangeable-sight models for handguns, shotguns, and tactical firearms, with platform-specific versions for popular designs such as the Colt 1911, Glock pistols, and FN handguns. The series is defined less by elaborate adjustment systems and more by practical usability: removable, reusable LitePipes, straightforward installation formats matched to the firearm, and a bright sight picture intended to speed visual acquisition. Depending on the model, LitePipes may be offered in red, green, white, or black, giving the series a level of customization that is useful in changing range and field conditions.

About the HI VIZ Interchangeable Front Sight, Colt 1911

The HI VIZ Interchangeable Front Sight, Colt 1911 is a dedicated fiber-optic front sight for most Colt 1911 pistols using a wide tenon, and it can also be narrowed to fit early narrow-tenon 1911 variants. That platform-specific fit matters on the 1911, where sight dimensions and mounting style directly affect point of aim and installation compatibility. With a 0.180 tall blade and a stake-on tenon design, this model is built as a practical replacement for shooters who want a more visible front sight on a classic single-stack pistol.

The key advantage is the interchangeable LitePipe system. Rather than relying on one permanently fixed insert, this sight accepts LitePipes in green, red, and white, so the shooter can choose the color that stands out best against the target and the available light. In bright daylight, that helps the front sight draw the eye quickly; on darker targets, it can make alignment more immediate and less fatiguing over long practice sessions. The 0.090 LitePipe diameter gives the aiming point enough presence to be easy to pick up without making the blade feel overly coarse.

All-steel construction keeps the sight robust for regular carry, training, and repeated holster use, while the fixed configuration avoids the added bulk and complexity of adjustable handgun sights. For 1911 owners who want a simple visibility upgrade rather than a full sight-set conversion, this front sight focuses on the part of the sight picture that matters most: a bright, easy-to-find front reference.

About HiViz

HiViz began in 1996 with a single shooting-related product and grew into a specialist maker of sights and shooting accessories based in Laramie, Wyoming, United States. The company is closely associated with fiber-optic sight systems, but its catalog also includes tritium sights, recoil pads, and other accessories for shooters using handguns, shotguns, and rifles.

A defining part of the brand’s identity is its LitePipe system, which uses removable and reusable fiber-optic elements to let shooters tailor the sight picture to conditions and preference. HiViz has also developed product families such as LiteWave, with its exoskeleton design and integral LitePipe locking system, and LiteWave H3, which combines tritium with fiber-optic LitePipes. That focus on visible, user-configurable sighting solutions is what makes HiViz especially relevant in the handgun sight category.
