Flir Scion OTM366 Product description

  • 640x512 Boson thermal core: The high-resolution VOx sensor with a 12.00 μm pixel pitch gives the Scion OTM366 the detail needed to separate animals, people, and background clutter more clearly at distance.
  • 60.00 Hz refresh rate: Fast image updates make panning and tracking smoother, which matters when scanning moving game or following activity across uneven terrain.
  • 25.00 mm objective with 1.00x to 1.30x viewing: This configuration balances a wide search image with enough native magnification to identify heat sources without making handheld observation feel narrow or tunnel-like.
  • Onboard photo and video recording with Wifi: Capturing 1280 x 960 stills and video helps document observations in the field, while wireless connectivity makes it easier to review or transfer footage.
  • Rugged weather-sealed housing: Waterproof, fogproof, nitrogen-filled construction and operation from -40℃ - 70℃ support reliable use in rain, cold, dust, and changing outdoor conditions.

About the Flir Scion OTM Series Series

FLIR introduced the Scion OTM series in 2019 as a handheld thermal monocular family for outdoor users who need dependable heat detection when visibility is poor. Positioned as a purpose-built field monocular rather than a general observation device, the series was designed for wildlife detection, search tasks, and other outdoor use where darkness, haze, and background cover can hide conventional visual detail. A defining part of the range is its use of FLIR Boson thermal cores, paired with a control layout intended for single-handed operation in rough weather.

Across the series, FLIR combined practical field features with recording capability. The Scion OTM models capture geotagged video and still images, with internal storage and microSD-expandable memory for longer sessions away from base. The interface supports thermal palette changes, picture-in-picture zoom, and GPS-based functions, giving users more flexibility when scanning, documenting, and reviewing what they observed. The lineup included both 320- and 640-resolution versions as well as 9 Hz and 60 Hz variants, allowing users to choose between basic observation and smoother motion rendering. FLIR also built the series around an IP67-rated housing, reflecting its emphasis on outdoor durability.

About the Flir Scion OTM366

The Flir Scion OTM366 is the higher-detail, handheld thermal monocular configuration in the OTM family, built around a 640x512 VOx uncooled sensor with a 60.00 Hz refresh rate. In practical use, that combination gives the image enough detail for better target separation while keeping motion smooth during scanning. When moving across tree lines, open fields, or broken ground, the faster refresh rate helps the scene remain easier to interpret than slower thermal devices, especially when tracking moving animals or people.

Its 25.00 mm objective and 1.00 x base magnification are tuned for observation rather than narrow-field identification. The wide 18.00 ° field of view, listed as 312.00 m/1000m, helps cover ground quickly, while the maximum 1.30 x optical view keeps the image natural for handheld use. A stated 1000.00 m detection range gives the monocular enough reach for spotting heat signatures well before they can be identified with the naked eye.

The viewing side is equally important. The HD LCD display with 1280x960 resolution presents a sharp image for prolonged observation, and the central focusing system allows quick adjustment as distance changes. The Scion OTM366 also records still images and video at 1280 x 960, with video output and Wifi adding flexibility for review and sharing. With a waterproof, fogproof, nitrogen-filled body, tripod adaptability, compass, and operation down to -40℃, it is configured for field use where weather and terrain are part of the job rather than an exception.

About Flir

FLIR Systems was established in 1978 to develop infrared thermal imaging systems for airborne applications, and that thermal background still defines the brand. The company expanded its expertise through acquisitions including Agema in 1998, Inframetrics in 1999, and Indigo Systems in 2003, building a broader foundation in thermal imaging technology and sensor development. Teledyne Technologies acquired FLIR in 2021.

FLIR specialized in thermal imaging and sensing systems for commercial, industrial, and government use, with product lines ranging from handheld outdoor devices to professional imaging systems. In the outdoor segment, its thermal monoculars are built around the principle that heat signatures reveal people, animals, and objects independently of visible light. That focus made FLIR a well-known name in handheld thermal observation, where image interpretation, sensor quality, and dependable field operation matter more than conventional daytime optics.
