ERA-TAC M4-Style Back-up sight (Kit) 1.8mm post

• Spring-loaded folding design: The sights fold down automatically and sit only 9 mm / 0.35” high when stowed, helping protect them from knocks while keeping the rail clear for optics and accessories.
• Dual ghost-ring rear sight: Two apertures, 5 mm and 1.7 mm, sit on the same plane, giving a fast option for close work and a finer option for more deliberate aiming without changing the sight picture dramatically.
• Tool-free height-adjustable front post: The 1.8 mm / 0.07“ front post can be adjusted without tools, making zeroing simpler in the field and allowing the sight to be tuned without carrying extra kit.
• AR15-height sight line: Built to the same height as standard AR15 sight, this kit integrates naturally on rifles and carbines set up around common AR-pattern sight geometry.
• Corrosion-resistant aluminum construction: The black anodized aluminium body and special surface treatment support hard outdoor use, including wet or maritime conditions where untreated metal parts can deteriorate quickly.

About the ERA-TAC Accessories Series

ERA-TAC Accessories extends the brand’s tactical mounting system with practical add-ons built for rifles used in the civilian sector, law enforcement, and demanding field applications. Introduced as part of the broader ERATAC line, the series covers more than mounts alone and includes backup sights, adapters, rails, sling-related components, and other weapon accessories designed around straightforward function and robust construction. A defining trait across the range is a focus on compatibility with modern mounting standards, especially Picatinny-based setups and the brand’s own interface solutions.

Within this series, backup sights stand out for their spring-loaded folding mechanism and replaceable, height-adjustable sight elements. That design reflects the series philosophy: keep accessories compact when not needed, but make them quick to deploy and easy to configure. The lineup also includes variants such as standard and HK-style front sights, along with different post widths to suit different preferences. In practical terms, the series is aimed at shooters who want durable, low-profile hardware that works alongside magnified optics, red dots, or other tactical accessories without adding unnecessary bulk.

About the ERA-TAC M4-Style Back-up sight (Kit) 1.8mm post

The ERA-TAC M4-Style Back-up sight (Kit) 1.8mm post is a folding iron-sight set for rifles equipped with a Picatinny Rail. It is intended as a dependable secondary aiming system for rifles that normally carry an optic, giving the shooter a mechanical fallback if the primary sight is removed, obstructed, or damaged. Because the kit uses the same height as standard AR15 sight, it fits naturally into AR-pattern sight geometry and similar rifle setups where consistent sight alignment matters.

The front unit uses a 1.8 mm / 0.07“ wide post, which offers a clear, easily acquired aiming reference that balances speed and precision well for general-purpose carbine use. At the rear, the sight provides two ghost rings, 5 mm and 1.7 mm at same plane. This gives the shooter a larger aperture for faster target acquisition at shorter distances and a smaller aperture for more precise alignment when the shot calls for finer control. Since both apertures remain on the same plane, the transition between them is straightforward and does not feel like a complete change of sight setup.

The mechanical design is especially well suited to rifles that are carried hard. The spring-loaded folding mechanism helps protect the sights from impact, while the ultra-low 9 mm / 0.35” folded height keeps the profile slim under or around other accessories. The tool-free height adjustment and replaceable post make setup and maintenance simpler, and the corrosion-resistant finish supports reliable use in wet, dirty, or maritime environments.

About ERA-TAC

ERATAC is a brand of Recknagel GmbH & Co. KG, based in Bergrheinfeld, Germany. Recknagel was founded in 1867 in Albrechts near Suhl, Thuringia, and built its reputation around firearm accessories for hunting, sport, and tactical use. The company later relocated to Schweinfurt in 1948 and moved to Bergrheinfeld in 2006. In 2010, Recknagel began producing the ERATAC line for civilian and military markets, expanding its focus into tactical riflescope mounts, Picatinny rails, backup sights, and related weapon accessories.

A core characteristic of the brand is its emphasis on durable metal construction. ERATAC mounts are machined from solid aluminum and hard-anodized to Mil-Spec Type III, reflecting a design approach centered on repeatability, strength, and resistance to hard field use. In this product category, that reputation matters because backup sights and mounting components must hold alignment while remaining compact and dependable.
