EAW pivot mount, 30 mm, Sauer 202 Medium Product description

  • Repeatable return to zero: The EAW pivot design lets the scope be removed and reattached without changing the point of impact, which is useful when switching between optics or returning to open sights.
  • 30 mm ring interface: Built for scopes with a 30 mm main tube, this version provides a secure mechanical fit for many modern hunting optics.
  • Steel construction: The steel build prioritizes rigidity and long-term wear resistance, helping the mount stay stable under repeated recoil and regular field use.
  • Rifle-specific fit: Made for the Sauer 202 platform, this pivot mount gives a model-matched base arrangement rather than a generic one-size solution.
  • Adjustable mount-foot fit: The front and rear mount-foot fits are adjustable, allowing precise installation and helping maintain the repeatability that pivot mounts are known for.

About the EAW Pivot Mounts Series

EAW Pivot Mounts are built around a long-established idea: a riflescope mount should allow the optic to be taken off and put back on without shifting the rifle’s zero. EAW states that it developed and launched this system more than 50 years ago, and the design remains one of the company’s defining mount categories. In practical use, that makes the series especially relevant for hunters and rifle owners who want one rifle to serve more than one role, whether that means changing between day optics, using a second aiming device, or clearing the rifle for transport and storage.

A key characteristic of the series is its adjustable front and rear mount-foot fit, which supports precise installation and repeatable engagement. The system is designed for common rifles and long guns, with model-specific lower parts and a range of upper configurations to suit different scope bodies and interfaces. Within the broader family, EAW also offers a lever-operated pivot variant for break-action firearms. Across the series, the design philosophy stays consistent: strong mechanical engagement, repeatable positioning, and the flexibility to remove and reinstall an optic without turning the rifle into a permanent one-scope setup.

About the EAW pivot mount, 30 mm, Sauer 202 Medium

The EAW pivot mount, 30 mm, Sauer 202 Medium is a rifle-specific mounting solution for pairing a 30 mm riflescope with the Sauer 202 action. Its main advantage is not simply that it holds an optic, but that it does so in a way that supports the core benefit of the pivot system: removing the scope when needed and reinstalling it with dependable repeatability. For a hunting rifle, that matters when the user wants to switch optics, access iron sights where applicable, or separate the scope from the rifle for transport without committing to a fixed installation.

The use of steel is important here because a pivot mount depends on precise mating surfaces and consistent lock-up over time. A rigid steel structure helps the mount resist wear at the contact points and maintain stable alignment under recoil. Because this version is configured specifically for the Sauer 202, it is intended to match the rifle platform rather than rely on a universal compromise. That model-specific approach is one reason pivot mounts remain popular on traditional European hunting rifles.

The 30 mm ring format suits a wide range of modern hunting scopes, giving the rifle owner flexibility in optic choice while keeping the classic removable-mount concept. Combined with the adjustable fit of the pivot system’s front and rear feet, this mount is built for careful installation and repeatable use in the field. The result is a mounting setup focused on secure scope attachment, clean removal, and consistent return to shooting position.

About EAW

EAW traces its origins to 1919, when Ernst Apel founded the company in Würzburg, Germany. The business later became associated with the EAW name, meaning Ernst Apel Würzburg, and it developed its first riflescope mounts in 1945. Since 1951, mount development and production have been the company’s primary focus, which explains why EAW is closely associated with mechanical scope-mount systems for hunting and sporting rifles.

Today, Ernst Apel GmbH is headquartered in Eibelstadt, Germany, following the move of production from Würzburg to Gerbrunn in 1970. EAW is known for manufacturing pivot, slide-on or roll-off, and claw mounts, with a product range centered on rifle-specific mounting solutions rather than generic hardware. That specialization is particularly relevant in the hunting optics segment, where repeatable removal, precise fit, and long service life matter as much as the optic itself.

Hi, I have a Sauer 202 in .243 calibre. I am looking for a pivot mount for a Swarovski z8i 2.3-18 by 56 (30mm). But i need enough clearance to fit on a tMA 56 adaptor with a TM 35 thermal monocular. What do you suggest for the best mounts for this. Thanks Kirk

by Kirk Robertson

Dear Sir!

For your Sauer 202 with a Swarovski Z8i 2.3-18x56 (30 mm), you can use the 17 mm mount height, which should provide approximately 12 mm of clearance at the objective.

However, for use with the tMA 56 adapter and TM 35 thermal monocular, we recommend the 19 mm mount height.

Hi folks Got a Sauer 202 Takedown with Apel mounts fitted. But my new scope, a S&B Zenith with 30mm tube is shorter so I need the angle back version. 1/ you got them in stock as a kit? 2/ can you supply the pivot swing angle back on its own? 3/what's your lead time and costs? Thanks for your time.

by Gerry

Dear Sir,

thank you for contacting us.

The version you are referring to is a KR (extension) version. With this mount, you can choose the 26 mm backward option. The delivery time for this product is approximately 3-4 weeks once ordered, while the price is 490€ with the VAT included.

Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Recommendation Request. For my Sauer 202 Forester, 30-06, Scope Swarovski Z6i 1-6x24, 30mm tube dia. What EAW or Rusan pivot mount would you recommend and what BR and KR? Ian

by Ian

Dear Sir,

thank you for contacting us.

We kindly apologize for the late reply, which is a result of the increased demand for our services.

For a wide-angle Swarovski scope, we would recommend the BH height of 17 mm and 26 mm extension (KR).

Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind Regards,
