Sig Sauer X-Ray1 Enhanced Day U-notch Sight Set

• Fiber-optic 3-dot sight picture: The bright green aiming references draw the eye quickly in daylight, helping the shooter pick up the front sight faster during defensive drills, range work, or general carry use.
• Enhanced U-notch rear: The rounded rear notch gives a more open sight picture than many traditional square designs, making front-sight centering feel quicker and less cluttered under speed.
• Self-illuminated design: With no batteries to manage, the sight set stays simple and always ready, which suits a pistol that may be carried often or stored for immediate use.
• Steel construction: A steel body gives the sights the durability expected for slide-mounted use, resisting wear from repeated holstering, recoil, and routine handling.
• Fixed alignment setup: The fixed configuration keeps the system straightforward and robust, favoring dependable everyday use over more delicate adjustable target-style arrangements.

About the X-Ray1 Series

The SIG SAUER X-Ray1 series is built as a daylight-focused pistol sight family for shooters who want a brighter, faster iron-sight picture than standard factory posts and notches. In SIG SAUER’s lineup, these sights sit in the practical defensive and carry-oriented category, emphasizing rapid front-sight acquisition, a clean rear reference, and durable construction suited to regular slide use. Rather than adding complexity, the series focuses on a highly visible aiming arrangement that remains easy to read in changing outdoor light.

A defining trait of the series is its fiber-optic, self-illuminated sight picture, paired with a rear notch designed to keep the front sight easy to locate. This approach suits compact carry pistols, duty-style handguns, and general range pistols alike, especially for shooters who prefer a traditional iron-sight system with improved daytime visibility. The design philosophy is straightforward: clear alignment, rugged steel construction, and fast visual indexing. For users who want an iron-sight upgrade that keeps the pistol simple while improving how quickly the sights present to the eye, the X-Ray1 family fills that role well.

About the Sig Sauer X-Ray1 Enhanced Day U-notch Sight Set

The Sig Sauer X-Ray1 Enhanced Day U-notch Sight Set is configured for shooters who want a more visible iron-sight setup without moving away from a conventional fixed pistol sight system. Its most distinctive feature is the combination of a green fiber-optic front sight and a green U-notch rear sight with black outlines. In practical use, that arrangement gives the eye a strong color reference while still preserving the contrast needed to define the front blade clearly. The result is a sight picture that feels quicker to read in bright and mixed daylight than plain black irons.

The U-notch rear is especially useful for fast alignment. Compared with tighter or more angular rear profiles, it creates a more open window around the front sight, which can help the shooter track the front blade during presentation, recoil, and follow-up shots. The 3-dot alignment also gives a familiar reference for users transitioning from standard service-style sights, so the upgrade remains intuitive rather than requiring a new visual system.

Built from steel and designed as a fixed sight set, this model favors durability and consistency. That makes it well suited to everyday carry pistols, training guns, and general-purpose handguns that see regular holster wear and repeated recoil cycles. For shooters prioritizing fast daytime acquisition, a durable slide-mounted construction, and a less crowded rear sight picture, this X-Ray1 set offers a practical improvement over basic factory irons.

About Sig Sauer

SIG SAUER traces its origins to a wagon factory opened near the Rhine Falls in Switzerland in 1853. Over time, the company developed into a broad shooting-sports and defense manufacturer, and SIG SAUER, Inc. is headquartered in Newington, New Hampshire. Its product range extends across firearms, electro-optics, ammunition, airguns, and suppressors, which gives the brand a strong position in complete shooting systems rather than in a single product category.

Within optics and sighting equipment, SIG SAUER produces riflescopes, red-dot sights, and rangefinders, alongside pistol sight options such as this one. That wider experience in aiming systems helps shape a practical design approach focused on visibility, durability, and compatibility with defensive, sporting, and professional use. The company’s long history and broad catalog have made it a well-established name for shooters looking for coordinated firearm and sighting solutions.
