Recknagel Rear G9 Pivot Base For Mauser M98 Standard

• Steel rear base construction: The steel body gives this rear G9 pivot base the rigidity needed for a secure optic interface on classic Mauser actions, helping the mount stay stable under recoil and repeated use.
• Made for Mauser M98 Standard rifles: A model-specific fit simplifies the build of a pivot-mount setup and helps preserve correct alignment between the rifle and the optic.
• Part of the Recknagel Tip-off Mount system: As a dedicated rear base within a proven pivot-mount family, it supports a repeatable mounting solution for hunters who remove and reinstall optics as conditions change.
• Black finish: The subdued black surface matches common hunting-rifle hardware and keeps the base visually discreet on traditional rifle builds.
• German manufacture: Built in Germany, this base reflects Recknagel’s focus on precise firearms mounting components for dependable fit and consistent mechanical function.

About the Recknagel Tip-off Mount Series

The Recknagel Tip-off Mount series belongs to the company’s established range of riflescope mounting solutions for hunting and sporting firearms. Within Recknagel’s lineup, these mounts are designed for shooters who want a removable optic setup without giving up a solid mechanical connection to the rifle. The concept centers on a pivoting, tip-off style arrangement that allows the optic assembly to be attached and removed in a controlled, repeatable way, which is especially useful on rifles that may alternate between scope use and open sights or travel in compact cases.

The series is broad rather than one-size-fits-all. Recknagel offers model-specific variants for different rifle platforms, along with versions for multiple scope tube diameters and several integrated rail interfaces. Depending on the application, the family includes solutions for 26, 30, 34, 36 and 40 mm scope tubes as well as rail-based options such as Swarovski SR, Zeiss internal rail, S&B Convex and Weaver/Picatinny. That variety makes the series relevant both to traditional hunting rifles and to more specialized sporting setups, while the overall design philosophy remains the same: a precise, repeatable mount built around secure engagement and practical field use.

About the Recknagel Rear G9 Pivot Base For Mauser M98 Standard

The Recknagel Rear G9 Pivot Base For Mauser M98 Standard is a dedicated rear mounting element for building a pivot-mount system on the classic Mauser M98 Standard action. Its role is straightforward but important: it provides the rear anchoring point that allows the rest of the mount assembly to seat correctly and work as intended. Because it is made specifically for the Mauser platform, it suits rifle builds where correct fit and clean integration matter just as much as basic attachment.

The use of steel construction is especially relevant on a component like this. A rear base takes repeated mechanical stress from recoil, optic removal and reinstallation, and normal field handling. Steel helps maintain shape and engagement surfaces over time, which supports consistent lockup and long-term durability. On a traditional hunting rifle or a heritage sporting build, that also makes practical sense because the base matches the robust character of the action it is designed for.

As part of the Recknagel Tip-off Mount family, this rear G9 base is intended for shooters who value a removable optic system that remains mechanically dependable. That can be useful when a rifle is carried with different sighting arrangements, transported frequently, or set up around a classic hunting style where a low, elegant mount matters. The black finish keeps the appearance restrained and compatible with blued steel and similarly understated rifle hardware.

About Recknagel

Recknagel is a German manufacturer focused on firearm and riflescope mounting systems, sights and hunting accessories. The company’s history began in 1867, when Adolf Recknagel started manufacturing firearm sights in Albrechts near Suhl in Thuringia. Over time, the brand expanded into a broader range that includes scope mounts, Picatinny rails, firearm sights, triggers, safeties and hunting silencers, giving it a strong position in the field of precision gun components.

The company relocated from Schweinfurt to Bergrheinfeld in 2006, and in 2010 it introduced the ERATAC line for tactical mounts and accessories. Recknagel added lightweight hunting silencers to its range in 2016, and Dr. Moritz Fehrer acquired the company in 2022. Across these developments, Recknagel has remained closely associated with practical engineering for hunting and sporting firearms, particularly in the area of robust, precisely made mounting solutions.
